I was born in the 70's ... 1977 to be exact. I was s'posed to be born in 1978, but I popped out early.
Being born in December was tough when I turned 19. At the time, the only ID i had was a college student card with my birth date on it, so if I wanted to get into bars or clubs, the bouncers would have to do the math, many of times which they could not. "I was born in December moron. That makes me 19" ::) ;D

I don't think I ever used a computer until I was maybe 5 1/2...but that was 20 years ago (1986)!! It was some kiddie-oriented program, and I don't know what kind of operating systems were in use in the mid-80's! Except maybe a very primitive version of OSes in the Macintosh family, and I'm pretty sure THAT wasn't it, since they only had black&white monitors at the time.

25 and two-thirds? I would hardly call that old. ::)
And about floppy disks: there used to be the really old kind, which were big, and actually floppy! I remember disks like that as a young 'un in the late 80's. During my third grade year (1988-89), we had Apple IIe computers in the school I was at. And we used big floppy disks made of floppy material.

I remember the very first time I used a computer...
My dad had this really old pc (we still have it)...had like 512KB flash memory, an 10" monitor and run something prior to Windows. I was about 5 or so.
In primary school we used to have computer lessons, and the computer teacher said, 'turn the computer on.'
So I turned the monitor button on (I was about 7-8).
Then he goes absolutely psycho. 'That's not the bl**dy computer you idiot!' you roared.
I'll never foget that.
But my internet-using history has spanned just over 10 years...1996-2006, in that time I've gone through three avatars (which I use for everything)...you can probably find out alot about my avatars my doing a search on google.

Jeff, we actually owned one of those big floppy disk thingys which was hooked up to my mom's TV (which was an older TV from the 70's) so we would play on this thing using a joystick, if I recall. I have real distant memories and maybe it was one of my very first few memories, so this could have been circa 1985 or 1986 at the very least. Very interesting you remember those, too.
I hope I don't get the "God, you're old" thing, too, for mentioning that I remember that... ;D

I remember those we used them in the Apple IIgs's in elementary school.

I remember using Apple IIgs and Apple IIc in the early 90's in junior high (more specifically, 7th grade). Now that I look back on that, I think the Apple IIc (which I used in a winter intersession class for BASIC programming, which I sucked at then) seemed outdated then (early '93), with green pixels on its monitor.

I remember back in 1996 thinking the '80s apples were absolute pieces of crap, although I did like the games.
In 2006, I think '90s computers are junky, but not worthless. I would consider a 1998 or 1999 computer to be at least in the same class as a new one.

I own an Apple IIe that still works. Some neighbor gave it to me in 1998. It's still in pretty good shape for a 23 something year old computer. It's amazing how far computers have come since then.

Sure is.
I remember my third-grade days quite well (that's when I used 'em). Typically I played math-based games on them.

I was using computers as far back as 1982 with the Vic-20. I used it more or less to play video games, but the odd time I did computer stuff with it. It had features where you could type in a whole bunch of commands to get ascii characters to move. Back in those days, that was considered top technology ;D

Sorry, I was just poking fun at you. You're not even remotely old until like 38 or so, and old old isn't until you're like 65 or 70.
You are joking right?
Middle age doesn't even hit until 50.

Well, if you're talking whether you're likely closer to death than birth, yeah I'd say 38 is the beginning of bordering on being "older". But, since people are likely to live to 100 or more now that's probably not the case anymore. Old old is like 70+.

I don't get all this life-expectancy thing anyway.
They say that a baby born today is supposed to live to (for example) about 76 if you're male, and 82 if you're female. Yet that seems to be the average age people are DYING these days. I suppose they don't account for improvements in health.etc.

Yeah, that's what I mean. 40 may not really be mid-life, hell if we're living to 160 by 2050 it's only quarter-life. I damn hope we're not still at a lifespan of 80 years by the mid twenty-first century.

I was born in the very late '80s. November 27 to be exact. I almost didn't make it.
