The now common way for a high bandwidth internet connection – one that can transmit or download information up to 40 times as fast as a standard telephone and modem.

DSL (which, when working as it should, is fine - young Karen knows all about the time when it wasn't...!!)

Some people 'in the know' are going on about satellite connections as of late...I'll think I'll stick with my two bits of string and elastic band...!!

I have no idea. I log in at work so it's probably the fastest connection available.
At home we have dial up hence why I rarely post from home

Dial-up. I looked into DSL but living out in the boonies, we can't get it. We don't want to do cable because we want nothing to do with Adelphia-the only cable co. around-we don't even use them on our t.v. since we have a dish. We haven't really looked into satellite-that may the the way to so since we do have the dish.

Yes, I remember. So is it safe to assume that it's been holding steady since that time? ???

Sure has, Karen - which is a tad disappointing, as I miss the daily ritual of trying to get some sense out of the 'experts' on the ISP 'help desk' (which was anything but...!)

I'm used to it and I am a FAIRLY patient person so it is not too bad. But, what really bothers me is the fact that my step-daughter b!tches about it all the time when she is here. She kept telling us to go with DSL, so I looked into it. (See post above). Now, I keep telling her that there is really nothing we can do about it right now but she still b!tches about it anyway.

Dial-Up
Highspeed internet is just too costly in here and with the amount of time I spend on the computer most days it just doesn't make sense to pay that much.

Cable at home, dial up at work, which seems agonizingly slow after getting used to cable. It's annoying to even try and surf the net cuz everything loads soooooo slowly. Hmmm think maybe my boss did that on purpose? ;D

The website is making me out to be a liar! Psssh! I didn't get the download usage mixed up with the download speed either. Just checked it out and it now says 1GB for cheap package and 15GB for the next two up. I know that wasn't the case when I read it recently. >:(
Still, unlimited broadband is way cool. 8)

I had the origional 512KB modem.. just the second one up. It said there was some limit about something i didn't understand.. so i just ignored it.
Anywho, they upgraded me to 2MB for free.. and i use it a lot and download vast amounts..I download at least 1-2 Gig's worth of movies a week.. watch em.. burn some.. delete some.
I have in the past 3 months downloaded about 16Gig of music as well. No extra charges..

You can get by on 512KB - But it's always better faster. 8)

That's excellent. I watch movies occassionally, I might test the speed of my new connection (third increase on my connection last time). :)
