I like Connery and Brosnan about the same, old to new :)

I checked Roger Moore. Mostly because that is who I grew up watching and I'm used to him as 007. Everyone else seems "out of place" in the role except Pierce Brosnan.

Sean Connery...the only other that comes close is Pierce Brosnan. IMO, Rodger Moore was kind of a wuss ::)

I chose Sean Connery for the first can only be the best, but in Casino Royle there was several James Bonds including Peter Sellers.

Oh Roger Moore was just the best... I can't abide having a Scot play the consumate Englishman so Connery is out and Moore is just classic. He delivers the one liners so well.. he always looks suave but uncomfortable at the same time (which of course you would be if you were a spy lol)

Who was the author again - was it Ian Fleming? ???

Yes the author was Ian Flemming... now i must admit i haven't read the books so i didn't know that... however until Connery apart form one unfortunate Aussie Bond was always played by an Englishman and from what i could see that was the whole point. He was the consumate english gentleman, suave, sophisticated and always just slightly out of his depth.

Sean Connery - Scot
Roger Moore - Brit
George Lazenby - Aussie
Timothy Dalton - Welsh
Pierce Brosnan - Irish
I must admit that as an American (US), I do not know what officially qualifies one as being an "Englishman" but as you see, Roger Moore is the only one actually born in England.
