A track from the Sugababes album Three called Maya makes me cry because it's about the death of Mutya's sister. Slipping Through My Fingers by ABBBA also made me cry.

'Sacrifice' by Elton John is quite a poignant song for me, Stompgal. My parents were splitting up around that time and the lyrics just seemed to tie-in with what was going on.

I often listen to songs when I get depressed...even the happiest of happy songs can make me cry. They remind me of what I'm not...happy.

Drive by The Cars because of the video they used from Ethiopia (maybe it was a re-release).
I have cried to other songs but not every time I hear them. For example, Your My Best Friend by Queen had a friend and myself howling because we'd recently fallen out and then made up again. Also once listening to 'Perfect Day' (remixed version with loads of artists - it was used to advetise the BBC I think) with my husband after we'd had a great day had us both weeping!

One of my oldest, closest, friends died, we were supposed to grow old together. He was a big
Paul Simon fan. One day I was in a store and I saw something that made him pop into my head,
just then "Old Friends" came on and I started crying right there in the store. Actually I am tearing

Two songs I can think of off the top of my head that I simply cannot listen to because they make me cry without fail are:
- "Dream Come True" by Frozen Ghost because that was going to be Rush's and my song at our wedding-reception-which-never-happened.
- "From A Distance" by Bette Midler. Beautiful song and always makes me cry when I hear it, therefore I can't listen to it.

I often listen to songs when I get depressed.
Me too...especially the soft, slow ones. Yesterday, for example, someone hurt my feelings; I was depressed for hours. Whenever I'm depressed, there are a few songs I feel like hearing, like "Out Of My Head" by Fastball and "Trouble" by Coldplay; a few lines from those songs express more or less how I feel.

I didn't mention this on my first list but the Flesh Failures from Hair. Yesterday, we saw the play (that I mentioned in another thread) and sure enough when they sang that song, I was bawling my eyes out. Carlos expected it (I had warned him anyway) but we sat with a friend who wasn't expecting it and I think he was laughing at me crying during it.

The Long and Winding Road is also on my list too.
I love that song, but I've gotta say, sometimes it's on mine too - definitely one of their more sad ballads. If we're going with Beatles songs though, "She's Leaving Home" surpasses it - always seems sad to me, this woman who ups and runs away from home leaving her family to wonder why. Not saying I don't like the song -- I do -- it's just depressing!

I don't really cry anymore... but I know a lot of depressing songs. They're a lot of my favorite songs. It seems like all my artists create a lot of depressing stuff.

I am surprised no one mentioned "Last Kiss" by Pearl Jam or the original version.
I know several people who tear up from that song.
