Subject: What's the stupidest thing your pet has done?

I've seen cats fall out of first storey windows, dogs bite electrical extension leads. It seems a lot of you are pet owners out there- have you got any stories regarding silly things your animals have done?

This is something funny that my first cat,SYLVESTER,did while I was cleaning my kitchen....I had my watch on the kitchen table...he reached up,knocked it on the floor with his front paws...then carried it off into my bedroom! I asked him why he 'stole' my watch...he glared at me and stuck his tongue out at me! LMFBOROFL!!
My present cat,Tika, has her own small toy box...she knows to look for her favorite toys there. She has a 'lovey'-a feathered toy with large pom-poms on a string.

My dog has done so much stupid cr*p, I don't even recall what the stupidest thing was. :P
All I can think of is him running into walls and doors, which he does on a regular basis (long story).

Our piggies nibble on EVERYTHING!! The dumbest thing they did is nibble on the phone cord that connects our DSL modem to the phone jack. We've had to replace it twice! It's well out of their reach now! :P

One time when I was a kid, our Springer Spaniel pup got away from me and ran right out in front of a car. The car squealed to a stop a few millimeters from crushing his skull. I saw the tire literally make contact with his head.
:o
The dog yelped and ran off into the bushes. He was fine, just scared silly. Oh, and from then on he had a funn cowlick on top of his head!

One time my old cat (the one I lost last year), started licking the inside of a can of cat food. So naturally, she got her head stick. Being the such concern cat owner (or should I say cat "staff") that I am, my first reaction was to get the camera. ;D After perserving the moment for posterity, I went to grab her to pull the can off. But, since she couldn't see, it freaked her out and she started running-right into a wall which pushed the can even further onto her head. She turned the corner and started running again, and once again, ran into a wall. I finally caught up with her and pulled the can off. She shook her head and it looked like she was saying, "What was that?" After that she still tried to lick the inside of cans but it was funny watching her because she was so cautious about it because she knew she could get stuck.
Another cat I had used to sit on the side of the tub when I took a bath, many times dangling her tail in the water and didn't care. One day she was walking around on the side of the tub and slipped. Her back paw went into the water. She got down from the tub and sat down on the floor with her back towards me. Then she turned her head towards me as if to say, "Yeah, I meant to do that". And then she walked out of the bathroom with as much dignity as possible shaking her back paw as she went. I was LMAO!

No, Maxwell. ::)
The cat was just too sick to move. I would never put a cat down for doing "cat things". ;)
And you got fed up with him doing that, so he's not alive anymore? Guess he didn't know just how stupid it was!

Man, these are some funny stories.  ;D
My roommate has a really funny story about one of her friends' cats.
My friend's cat, Drew, enjoys being outside every once in a while and, when he wants to go out, he *really* wants to go out.  So Drew was standing by the back door, dancing around, letting everyone know that he *really* wanted out.  Now, the first thing you all have to know is that the back door is set up with three layers.  The first is a sliding glass door.  The second is a screen door.  The third is another glass door.  So my friend walks to the back door and slides open the first glass door.  Drew dances around more, as if to say "lemmie out, lemmie out!!"  She slides open the screen door and SLAM  Drew crashes into the second glass door, all but knocking himself unconcious!  We've since decided that he's clumsy and retarded, kuz that's not the first time he's knocked himself out!
The other story actually happened to my cat Taffy. She's a pretty silly little creature (about 6 years old) and has done some really stupid and funny things over the years. But this one takes the cake. I wasn't there to see it, but I certainly heard about it.
When Taffy gets really excited about something, Taffy tends to run up and down the stairs a lot and always sounding like a herd of elephants when doing so, even though she's a tiny little thing of about 12 pounds. One afternoon, while attempting to run up the stairs, she missed and slammed right into the first step with a loud bang! She got up, shook herself off, and gave my mom and brother, who were both watching, a look as if to say, "Hey, what are you looking at?"
I could probably go on forever about some of the other stupid things she's done, but I won't and let her keep her dignity. ;)

I was filling up the tub to take a bath....and Sylvester decides to see just what it is that I'm filling the tub with. He tries to stick has front paw in-and takes a tumble into the water! Needless to say he jumps out post haste...and then gives me a 'What are you looking at'look...then walks off to regain his feline dignity.

Ok, another "stupid pet trick". Once again, this was from a cat of mine who is no longer with us. :\'( :\'( :\'( Anyway, I made the mistake of leaving the underwear drawer open one time. The next thing I knew, that cat dragged just about every piece of clothing out of that drawer and into the livingroom before I realized that he was doing it. I don't know why or what possessed him to do that. Then, (same cat) I went into a drawer one time, and left it opened as I was doing something else. Then I closed it. It may have been a half hour later or so, I had to go back into that drawer and couldn't understand why it felt so heavy as I was opening it-until the cat popped his head out and "Merow" (meaning, "Hi"). Good thing I had to go back into that drawer otherwise I'm sure I would have heard a "voice from beyond" yelling, "Me-out! Me-out"

I wouldn't say that my pets have done anything stupid; maybe silly, but not stupid. However, my parents have told me that our dog Dusty did something bad before I was born: she climbed on top of the dining room table and ate both layers of a birthday cake intended for Dad.
The funniest thing Dusty did after I was born: On Christmas Day, 1989, she ate a cannoli intended for me! See, I was on the couch, putting baseball cards into an album, and on the nearby coffee table, there was a plate with a cannoli (an Italian pastry filled with ricotta cheese, for those of you who don't know what it is), and Dusty climbed up there and snatched it right off the plate! My parents saw it too. :D
The dog we currently have, Chloe, has not done anything stupid.

He's a funny story: when my sister's 2 German shepherds were about 2 years old, they ate the plugs off of her portable television and a lamp. No dog was hurt, but that TV was thrown out a bit later. :D

My dog Molly who is no longer with us, managed to rip down the curtains like twice. I would get back from school, and she would be soooooo excited she'd run round the house chew on my book bag, chew on my shoes (she managed to destroy like 2 pairs of CAS's) and finally if this wasnt enough she'd run in to the den, jump up grab on to the curtains and like bite them, anyway, one day the curtains fell down on her. Man it was freakin hilarious, this big border collie just raceing around with curtains on top of her trying to figure out what the heck just happened.

8) ;DWell, when our oldest lhasa was a puppy she used to eat soap and drink ammonia water for mopping the floor.she also ate a garland of 5 large,wax-covered gingerbread men.My sister's siberian husky takes the cake though. She thought a resin racoon lawn ornament was real and charged it full speed and chomped into it.She broke a canine tooth ,which had to be extracted. When my sister took the dog to the vet,she had explained to other people what hapened--they apoolzed for laughing, but couldn't help it.My mom said it served the dog roit since she's accidentally killed some cats.Otherwise a nice dog,but this breed has to be trained around cats. The same dog also tried to kill a skunk and got sprayed,so she had to be thouroughlu washed. The skunk escasped,so we don't know if it survived ot not.cheers!

:o :oJust a note--it's good to watch out what kinds of foods your pets eat, because some people-food can be poisonous(their body chemistry is different). Some of the things toxic to dogs are chocolate, onions, and grapes.I think you can find a list of what else on the web somewhere.Cheers!

Why do some folks find a cat's voice annoying...I don't like tomcats 'singing' but I think Tika's various sounds are kinda cool. Sometimes when I pet her and talk to her,she responds as if having a conversation...she even coos like a dove when she's happy,

My cat doesn't meow, she squeaks-that is why we call her "Squeaky" or "Squeaker". At first we thought it was because she was just a kitten but now she is an adult cat and she still squeaks. I look at her and say, "Squeak" and she does. ;D

Well our cat, Mr.Whiskers, like to sleep up on top of the kitcen cabinets( the small space actually on top of them) with his head hung over the side straight down. I don't know HOW he can sleep like that! You'd think blood would rush to his head!
Also he sleeps on his back with his legs in the air like a lot of dogs do(odd for a cat)..
And one time when he cut his foot and we bandaged it up, he ran around the house freaking out, trying to get the bandage off, and finally he stopped and he was so upset he was panting just like a dog(I've never heard a cat do that).

Our cat "Granny Gray" used to get into cars. One Christmas she managed to hitch a ride with some neighbour's relatives - the people had driven for hours, stopped at a service station and saw a grey cat jump out of their car. A month later our very skinny and tired cat arrived home. We were so shocked when we saw her. She died peacefully in her sleep many years later. :)

My Dog Jeffrey ate sand out of the sand box when he was 6 weeks old. THe next morning he was "SCREAMING" trying to poop sand out of his liitle bum. I called the vet in a panic only to be told I had to find something to give him an enema with. Apparently she didn't think it was serious enough to get out of bed at 6am for. I used a syringe with no needle and voila!
My Dog Taco came to the side of the tub as I was just settling in for a nice long soak. She was so happy to see me she jumped in! Then cause it was so hot she freaked out trying to get out and in the process sctratched the sh#@ out of my chest! I couldn't wear a bra for a day or two.......

Hehehe, i don't mean to sound.. what's the word, condescending. But from everything I've heard about your dogs, you really ought to be getting a small dog if your mum and dad were to have one at all.
Labs are notoriously crazy and don't usually calm down until they're about 2-3 years old. Get a nice terrier, a Basset or something like that. A small dog, ya know in the 30-40lb range.
Especially if there are two cats around, having a 70 odd Lb dog running around is just begging for trouble. It's well known i prefer dogs over cats, but i don't dislike cats. You just have to find the balance. My mum's dog is fine with cats, he's a terrier and is about 40lbs, he's not ridiculously small but not too big and causes no trouble whatsoever. Muzz on the other hand, weighs in at close to a 100lbs and can pull me along when she wants to ;D She'd just eat the cat.

ya...try telling my dad that...he, for some reason, always wants a big..oversized mutt that does nothing but jump all over you...but then when they have one, they get mad at it for doing so...DUH! LOL!
I like smaller dogs myself...that is IF I HAD to get a dog...but alas, you know me...my heart is fond of cats. ;)
..and there is nothing wrong with cats. I explained it to your sister like this.. when i have my own place, i'll go and get a dog.. If somebody gave me a cat, or one turned up.. I wouldn't kick it out, i just wouldn't activley go and get one.
I like big dogs myself, but i can handle them. I've always had big dogs, my mum's dog now is the only time there has even been a small one.
Of course, in my own place, i wouldn't want a big dog like Muzz.. maybe a collie or something. Decent sized - proper dog ;D
Talking about stupid, Muzzy walked right in to a wall when we were out walking last night. She was cold and kept shaking her head, she did it one time and must have closed her eyes when she did it because she turned to the side and banged her head ;D
