And I believe that this puts me in a minority...
I really DESPISE "Me And Bobby McGee" by Janis Joplin.  Hate it, hate it, can't stand it, ya know? :(
I hate the way she drawwwwwls out and sluuurrrrrs the words "Bobby McGee". I just want to throttle her when I hear it (albeit it would be a bit too late now to do any good :o ;))
The paradox is that I really like "Piece Of My Heart" by the same singer :o

Both of the aforementioned songs are quite simply, boring IMO. The first time I heard Limahl's song, it seemed to go on forever and I've since dubbed it, 'The Neverending Song' :o
As for 'Lady In Red' I can think of tons of much better romantic type tunes. :)
'Walking On Sunshine' and 'Let's Hear It For The Boys' just make me want to retch :P

Gollum's Song.... it reminds me of someone I know who's very rodentlike and extremely dark inside and very twisted, even though it's not about the lyrics, it's about the singer's voice and the general atmosphere the song creates....

Just an insipid tune with a lame vocal (wince with pain as CdB tries to hit the high notes...)
Special mention to the uber-moronic 'Hey Baby' by DJ Otzi...if no-one's heard this, count yourself lucky...!! If you have - then no explanation neccessary...
Genre-wise...
Almost anything by Whitney and her vocal clone Mariah...
And anything passing itself off as 'cutting edge' British dance music...I've heard better sounds coming out of the cat...!!

Jaytee, I will agree with you regarding the lame lyrics part, but for this song it's the lovely music that first grabbed me. Sometimes song lyrics can be irrelevant to me if I like the music enough. :)

it sounds like a bad campfire singalong. With a message that makes me want to vomit. At least the single version (which I beleive is in a minor key...music majors, help me here, Im shaky with that stuff) was much better, and the cheerleading covered up the awkward transitions.
Probably one of the worst songs Brian Wilson ever penned. At least his Phil Spector-esk production on the single covered it up well.....

Worst song ever recorded! Stupid lyrics, sick message (OK, the world's most popular doll wants to be your sex toy?), annoying electronic synth-pop arrangment, the singer sounds like she's on helium, and lord knows how irritating that borderline-bass male chorus of "Come on Barbie, Let's go party!" was.
The song nearly made me physically ill back in my pop-music-fan days, and defintely made me change the station every time it was on...and trust me, when my local morning show spoofed it as "Bimbo Girl", I never laughed harder!
Thank God Aqua disappeared shortly after Mattel sued them.

Heh! The boys were in no position to refuse (they'd only been in the recording studio a couple of weeks...), and they duly recorded a rough (the operative word) demo of the thing on 4th September 1962 - this same session gave 'Love Me Do' (the umpteenth run-through and final version) to the world...
George Martin's original plan was to have 'How Do You Do It' as the A-side with 'Love Me Do' on the back, but The Beatles turned in such a woeful performance that it wasn't deemed worthy of release, until...
...the 1995 'Anthology 1' CD - which may be historically fascinating, but the version is still as woeful as ever...
I didn't think Gerry's version was that bad actually...suited the times...!

For the last year and a half, every time I've worked, usually twice during my Sunday shift, this horrid, wretched, awful song plays on the P.A. I've never heard it anywhere but over the crappy P.A. speakers at work and I didn't recognise the vocalist. I hate this song so much that the first couple of notes elicit an automated cringe response from me and fill me with an overwhelming sense of dread and being trapped. (There is no escaping the P.A., at work -- even when I work in the meatroom, where the noise levels are deafening and speaker has about 30 styrofoam trays duct taped to it to try to muffle it, the P.A. blares loudly above it all... and they're not exactly the latest in high end audio equipment... it's as much a crime to play good music over them.)
When you hate a song so much that you're conciously aware you hate it, you want to be able to mention it when the topic of hated songs comes up. So, I went looking for it the last time this thread was bumped up to the first page. Unfortunately, I was hindered in my search for the title/artist info by my own efforts to block the song from my mind as it plays and knowing I'd most likely misheard what I believed was probably the title line.
"It's Shatter Lane" is what it sounded like to me -- as expected, zero matches. I punched in everything I could think of that I might possibly mishear as that and still came up empty. When it played, today, I braced myself and stopped trying to block it for a few seconds to see if I could catch any mid-song lyrics.
"When your eyes meet mine" something something "Just a kiss" something something "clouds" something something "sunshine" was all I got. I punched that in when I got home from work and voila. The song I have hated with a deep and abiding passion for the last year and a half is:
