My house was built almost four years ago. Construction began on it in September of 2000 and the escrow closed in February of 2001. Five days later, we moved into it. :)

Not too sure but someone wrote their name on a beam in the basement with the date 1915-I'm assuming the house is older than that. Our livingroom was once the local phone company.

Best we can figure, it was built in the mid 60's. I live in Lyndon St, next to Baines St and Johnson St and intersected by Ladybird St.
Seems a tad more than coincidence! ::) :o

My house was built during the 50s by the local council. Interestingly, my road is called Normandy Way named after the Normandy Landings. The American soldiers had a camp near where our house is built and they marched down the road to the river Tamar where they jumped onboard boats to Normandy (hence the name).

My gaff is celebrating its 71st birthday this year...prior to which, there was nothing but a huge orchard - there is still a great big line of cherry trees running along the backs of the gardens...
...the cherries themselves are delish, assuming the birds haven't scoffed 'em all first...!!

My grandparents used to have a big cherry tree in their back yard and had to cover it every year because of the birds. Whoever said "eat like a bird" never saw these. Half of them couldn't fly because they would stuff themselves with the cherrys.

I've lived in a townhouse (in two separate units, but the same complex) since April 1996.
I'm not sure exactly when it was built (knowing me, of course I've asked that before, lol), but according to longtime residents of this area, it was sometime around the early 1970s. I do know that it used to be an orchard before that, as was alot of suburban San Jose in the old days.

Looking at the style of the house & the way it was built, I'd say 1960s.
Last several houses:
- 1923
- 1980s
- 1970s

(Yeah I'm quoting from a 2 1/2 year old reply - so sue me) ;D
My parents have a Mulberry tree in their yard, and the birds would stuff themselves silly, then as they pooed on our cars in rainbow colors - white with little splotches of purple. Almost pretty. Almost.

Our apartments were apparently built in 1986.
My parents home was built as a log cabin and modified over the years, I don't know how old it actually is, but my grandfather bought it off another distant relative in the 1950s, and it's been in the family since.

The house I live in at the moment was built in the mid-50s. We have the paperwork relating to the original purchase of the land.

The apartment complex in which I reside was built in phases.
The 1 bedroom units were built in the early '50s.
The 2 bedroom 4-plex built in the early '70s.
The 2 bedroom units which were formerly the clubhouse were done in the late '70s.
The most recent, the 10-plex, where I live, were built in 1985.
There are to be a few more units built in the next year or so.

I think our house was built around 1986 making it about 21 years old. It's a cozy home in a peaceful neighborhood.

A good barometer of when houses were built are often certain features. For instance, many houses built before the '50s didn't have showers, and attached garages started in the mid-late '70s.
Ironically, the place I'm living in now is probably one of the older places of all the other 10 I've lived in during my life (as I said, we moved around alot, particularly when I was younger). Most were probably built in the 1970s, and the townhouse complex I lived in in 1994 was built in the late '80s according to people I talked to about it then (so it was still almost brand new then).

I live in a condo that was built in 2000.
The house I grew up in was built in the early 60's - a typical ranch house of that time. I've also lived in a few apartments.

I found out just last week that the house I'm living in actually partially burned down in 1984 (the kitchen and garage). But, I believe the house is still about 40 years old.
