Subject: LOTR pronunciations... HELP!
Written By: ChrisBodilyTM on 07/30/04 at 10:13 pm
This has been bothering me for a while. Tolkien must have had a lot of time on his hands when he named his LOTR characters. How do you pronounce:
Meriadoc. I don't know if you pronounce it Muh-rye'-uh-dok or Mer'-e-add-ic.
Legolas. I thought it was Luh-go'-lus, but I've also heard it as Leg'-o-lus.
Giladriel. Is it Ga'-la-dreel or Guh-la'-dree-il?
And the longer name for Lothlorien? The really long one with 50 billion syllables? ::)
If I need more pronunciations, I'll tell you.

I think Lorien was variously known as Lothlórien, Lórinand, Lindórinand, Dwimordene, Golden Wood and Laurelindórenan :D
