Subject: I'm in pain!!!

Written By: QueenAmenRa on 07/19/04 at 12:20 pm

Ok so me and my sister took a spontaneous weekend vacation to the beach and I was determined to get a tan since I hadn't tanned at all this summer...
It'll turn into a tan...eventually....in the meantime we don't have any noxzema and this aloe vera gel doesn't help at all.  Anybody got any better remedies?

Try the actual aloe plant itself. Cut off the leaf and squeeze the gel out. Maybe try honey. I know sounds crazy, but it works well on regular burns. So maybe just try a small amount in a small area. It pulls the heat out of the skin and is a natual anti biotic.

Sorry to hear of your plight, QAR...but sadly I can't provide you with any remedies...

Only a bit of advice (for anyone else too) - for heaven's sake go easy worshipping that sun...it's bloody dangerous...

Hope your pain eases soon...

Drape damp cool towels over the burn until you can get to the store & get some Noxema and some Solarcaine spray.  Hope you feel better.  I know how painful & uncomfortable you feel. :(

I know that I will sound like a grandmother here, but getting tans at a young age is a great start to skin cancer later in life!

My family is fair skinned and skin cancer is the onky cancer we get!

As disgusting as it sounds, vinegar actually helps to take the pain out.  I know, you're all saying, "but, she'll stink to high Heaven"...actually, the smell goes away after a couple of minutes and as a bonus, bugs will stay away from you as well ;)
Definately good advice ;) Sorry to hear of your condition though, QueenAmenRa

I hope you feel better, QAR. In the meantime, go see your doctor or dermatologist to see what he/she recommends. He/she will probably prescribe pills or ointment. ;)

If it'll make you feel better, I toasted most of my left arm on my vacation while sticking it out the window and driving. :-[

That sounds a bit scary.  A couple years ago I got burnt on our Florida vacation and the stupid Waffle House waitress told me to use vinegar...she was stupid cuz she thought it would be a great idea to first slap my arm and say  "LOOKS LIKE YOU GOT A SUNBURN!!!"
Well I think the pain is slowly dying...now I'm just worried about peeling  :-\\

Dont pick at the peeling skin, tho.  Make sure you mosturize...I do that after I tan and I rarely get burned, but when I do, I pop a few aspirin for the pain, and use aloe vera.  WHen it starts to peel, I make sure to slather on some lotion to keep it from getting too icky peeling.  Hope you feel better soon!!!

I can't offer any help unfortunately. Put plenty of aftersun on. It took about a week for my blistered forehead to get better a couple of years ago - ouch.

I hope you feel better soon.  :)
