I just had a look in one of my books here at work.  As far as I can tell handedness isn't a heritable trait.

I had a sneaking suspicion it wasn't, karen - as both my parents are right-handed like me...

Without going too in-depth (mainly because I could lose myself!), I think it's ultimately something to do with what side of the skull your brain 'leans' to...

I can eat, write and throw efficiently with both hands.  I right-side dominant though.

i'm both. I was left handed until i started school and i was made to write  and do everything right handed, so now i can do everything with both hands. :D

I see alot of Canadians here are Lefties just like me :)

I can't do anything with my right hand except open doors and do things that require two hands.  I was never able to play baseball because I can't catch with my right hand  :(

I'm right handed, but I can't cut my meat or any other food with my right hand, I am left handed when it comes to that! I also utilize my left hand as much as possible because you never know when you'll need that other hand!

I'm right-handed when i write and draw. But when i play pool, snooker, guitar and tennis i play left-handed.

I play golf right handed, but could probably play left handed, just.. own right handed clubs.

100% right-handed no matter what it is i'm doing. My right arm is the stronger arm, so the left is really just there for support, I guess. Unless i'm playing keyboard, then in which case the left hand does the bass, and the right does the harmony
