Subject: Favourite Infomercial

For the few of us that sit up late at night and watch infomercials, I was wondering what some of your favourites are.

Mine is definatly the the Ultimate 70's ten CD set. I've seen it like 10 times.  :D

I am definitely with you Fred!

I so badly wanted to order Ultimate 70s--then I realized that I know someone who owns the entire set of Sounds of the 70s, which is the exact same thing, only about 15 years difference ::) ;D

I still love that infomercial, actually any music infomerical.

I have to agree with you on that one lebeiw, music infomercials are the best. I might just order that set.  :)

When it comes to infommercials, my all-time favorite was one that was done in the mid-1980's.  It was a gimmick where you would make boatloads of money buy buying real estate with NO MONEY DOWN.  It was hosted by this smarmy guy who bragged about getting rich with "OPM" (other peoples' money).

But for current infommercials, I have to go with Ron Popeil's Showtime Rotisserie machine:

You just Set it... And Forget It !

;D

I would have to say any of the infomercials with over enthusiastic hosts. i.e. The "Gazelle" Guy or the guy that used to wear those big glasses and ugly sweaters.

By the way, Those ionized air fresheners aka. The Quadra, they work GREAT!!
I got mine for free after the sept 11th attacks courtesy of the Red Cross. They are actually worth every penny, get one!

(No I do not work for Sharper image) ;D

my favorite one went off a few years ago, because evidently, it was a fire hazard. :o  it was the red devil grill.  the best scene was when the one guy was grilling like two burgers and a hot dog on a normal grill, and mick (red devil guy) had like twelve grills, all cooking at the same time, and they kept claiming that ONE red devil grill could cook 5435455 times as much food as one normal grill.

also, mick had a funny accent and couldn't pronounce "button" right - he said "boot-in."

haven't seen any lately though...

The "Sound of the '80's" set. IMO, they should put out a DVD with videos since they're shown on the infomercial. Plus, most of those songs can be found on any other '80's compilation cd.

A friend ordered a "Thunder Stick" (similar to a Bamix stick blender) as a surprise for his wife.  When she received it, she opened the invoice saw it was a "Thunder Stick", assumed it was some sort of weird vibrator that her husband had ordered and returned it!!  I can never see that infomercial without cracking up  ;D

Those dam infomercials that ask you silly questions like "is the heater on? It feels warm in here" when they've just installed something like "SuperHeat Insulation"...lol

My All time fave has to be that deodrant or something infomercial. That guy's sitting there with a girl showing off her cleavage. he opens the book slowly and some buttons on her shirt come off. He looks up, surprised, and opens the book more. More buttons come off! He should learn. ;D

How is it possible to like an infomercial?

They all seem to fall into one category:  Straight man who's seen a few too many jolts to the head from the electronic ab-firmer, and the pitchman who's had someone substituting "male perfomance enhancer" for his Ritalin.

Of course you can just change the channel.  Can't do that with your local soon-to-be-ex-friend Amway salesperson.

I despise most infomercials, but the one I like was for the Ariana taser gun. It was named after a rape/murder victim. It was sad, violent and informative, and definately made you want to buy their product.
