Subject: Money
Would you want to see a new denomination of money?Who would you put on it?I'll go with a 35 dollar bill and put Martin Luther King on it.Also what happened to the golden dollar coin that came out a few years ago?Can it still be used? Why was it not popular?I thought people liked them as collectibles and people didnt want to adjust like vending machines and stores would have to store them in their registers etc.

In my area, all of the stamp machines at the grocery stores, Wal-Marts, etc. give these as change. Since I used to be at WM so darned much, and just bought my stamps there, I have about $50 worth of these. I tried using them at a couple of places (Mc D's, Target, and even WM) and they wouldn't take them ::)

Very good idea, but I don't think the U.S is ready for MLK or an African American on currency, yet...and $35 amout would be a little, kind um, "odd", (no subtext to that, I hope?) plus I think they need to have held public office (correct me if I'm wrong) to be on paper money?
We need something that would actually make the denomination useful to have..I think a $25 bill would be better (i.e. 2x25=50 & 4x25=100) and it breaks down to 20's, 10's or 5's as change easier. And it would need to have a popular, but dead, President, on it, thats not already on a bill..Reagan (not one of my faves, but he was very popular) is a good choice, but he's still with us (no ill will towards him).
If we really wanted to do something special, we could issue $25's with portraits of the Challenger crew, or with a tribute (pic of the WTC & Pentagon (already on a bill) before the tragedy) to those that lost their lives on 9/11.

I have one of those golden coins. I was finally able to get my hands on a couple of $2 bills also.

I disagree about America is not ready to have a black person on currency. There was that Native American lady on the golden dollar and I never heard of her.I dont think you have to held office to be on currency. What did Alexander Hamilton do? ::)

Don't misnunderstand, I would like for a black to be on currency, but since we still have states and cities that do not reconize his birthday, and some others that seem hostile to that idea, putting out currency that has even a tinge of controversy will not help its success. Controversy with stamps, currency, statues and the like is usually a death knoll in this country..
Alexander Hamiltion was Secretary of the Treasury under George Washington. Created the Bank of The United States.
