Subject: Prayer request
I have a dental appointment this coming Monday. I'm so scared about going, that I'm contemplating about canceling my appointment. I seriously would rather be going to work instead. :(
Subject: Re: Prayer request
I know how you feel. I absolutely loathe going to the dentist. Don't cancel because you know you'll never re-schedule until you're in so much pain you must go. I've done that before. I've made my appointment for my annual check up for 16 February and am already starting to stress about it. :P
Subject: Re: Prayer request
I say go and get it over with. Like Jaytee said, if you put it off until it gets worse the treatment will be worse, too.
You have my prayers, though. :)

It shouldn't be all that bad-Just go and you'll be done. I myself dread going to the dentist cuz I hate it when he tries to floss between my permanent retainer :o
But you'll be fine

Thanks for all your kind words, but I changed the date this morning to February 2, and even that's too soon so I might bump it to Feb 9th (don't ask me why).
Subject: Re: Prayer request
Why don't you book it for tomorrow and get it over with?
Subject: Re: Prayer request
I had four wisdom teeth out last year and it was horrible. But the end result is that I have no ulcers and more importantly no pain.
Get it done and you will feel much better. :)

You'll probably find in this day and age BBM, that dentists actively treat 'nervous' patients with a great deal of respect and compassion...just summon up the courage to let your dentist know this, and I'm certain he/she will be only too happy to see you right...
...believe me, do NOT leave your treatment until too late - I found that out to my cost a few years back...get it seen to now!

Actually, I'm pretty sure they do know that I get very anxious. I wouldn't be surprised if they even have me down as 'nervous' patient on my file (lol!)

What type of procedure are you having done? I work at the front desk of a dental office and I can tell you that we note in chart about everything including if you are a nervous patient.

There are alot of options out there for nervous patients. Ask your dentist if he has Nitrous Oxide gas or if he'd write an prescription for tranquilizer to take prior to the appointment. Ask if the have headphones with music or if they would allow you to wear your own. Listening to music or relaxation tapes helps you to relax and makes it harder to hear the noise of the instruments. Anyhow, saying a prayer for you. And like the others have said, don't put off treatment too long. It only makes things worse.

I kinda like the Dentist nowadays. They aren't that bad except for the saliva thingy and the sharp pick which hurts like hell when you start to squirm. Then they give you free toothbrushes and mouthwash after. ;D
