Subject: Women and Radio...

Written By: Criz on 01/03/04 at 07:54 a.m.

Haven't done this for a while, but yep, it's me needing some more opinions from people to help me with an essay for uni - which is consequently not going well! I HATE word limits grrr  >:( I've got a week to do this (didn't leave it that late - started it a month ago...but yeah, haven't done anything since then...oops ;D), and what better way to get opinions around the world than posting a message on this lovely board :)

Basically, I was wondering what your opinions are on the way women are presented on the radio. Do you know of any 'shock jocks' where you live who critisize women on air, are slightly sexist and have said any remarks which have got them into trouble? Or even the exact opposite.

Are there any female listeners who feel radio doesn't cater for there needs. Or are you fed up with with claiming there's such a difference in the sexes, and feel that programmes can cater for both?

If you know anything about women in the radio buisiness also, feel free to comment - but I mostly have that area covered! I just need peoples opinions on the presentation of women on the radio, and women as listners.

Thank you so much to anyone who responds :)

Hi Criz - Happy New Year, Smith-Fan  :D

For what it's worth, I agree with the following part :

"Or are you fed up with with claiming there's such a difference in the sexes, and feel that programmes can cater for both?"

I cannot think of any instances where there has been any bias that I am aware of

FB  :)
