Subject: Your opinion please
while washing my hands in a B&Nobles bathroom, I witnessed a very interesting confrontation. An older woman was yelling at an obviously transgendered/transexual person for being in the woman's bathroom. The "lady" then replied "I'm a woman, I have every right to be in here just as much as you do."
All I want to know is, who do you think was right in this situation?
Do you think it's appropriate for Transgendered/man men(who still look like men mind you) to use the women's facilities and vice/versa?
I personally don't care WHO is the bathroom with me, just as long as I have my own stall. I also think the older woman shouldn't have come out of her face to the "lady". As i recall the "lady" was there first and the older woman was waiting on line. If she doesn't like her being in the bathroom she should have left!!!!

Personally I don't care as long as transgenders use the stalls and not "whip it out" and use a sink as a urinal. Everyone has to use the bathroom. As long as it is discreet, I see no problem with it. I have used the men's bathroom on more than one occasion myself-but that is another story. (There were no lines ;))

I work with several transexuals. All had the op years before I came to work there but from what I hear they had to go to court to be allowed to use the womens loo's and not the mens.
I know one prefers to use the separate disabled loo but the other two use the Ladies.
Personally I dont have a problem with it as we are all in our own little cells. I have bigger issues with the people - men or women - who pull out their cell phones while on the loo and have a conversation with someone.
I just scream out very loudly "Its a TOILET BOOTH not a friggen PHONE BOOTH" - until they are satisfactorily embarrassed enough to hang up.
Subject: Re: Your opinion please
I wouldn't have an issue with it.
Subject: Re: Your opinion please
It doesn't really matter how they came to be female, whether they were born female or whether they changed, but if they're female then of course they can use the women's lavatories!

I wouldn't have a problem with it. I would have a problem with a straight guy pretending to be a transexual and using the womens bathroom. ;)
I have encountered Transexuals going into womens dressing rooms before. I don't have a problem with that either. In my opinion, I feel women are more understanding than men regarding transexuals. (at least here) I think it is more likely for a man to be upset if a transexual used the mens bathroom/dressing room.

If you really want to be funny, just start groaning and grunting real loud and making other appropriate noises...

Man, that's a good one! I have to try that. ;D
It'd work especially well if you get one of your friends to come in with you!

The other thing I did with this one particular woman who treats the loo's as her own private phone booth is sent out an email to the Occupational Health and Safety team in my office stating her phone was a health hazard. If she left her phone somewhere and someone picked it up to return it - gawd knows what they would catch from it after where it spends much of its day.
The OH & S team put up posters in all the loos stating using a phone in the loo is unsanitary. Then it doubled the "wash your hands" posters.
I also sent an email to my team stating that if they ever went near her desk - to not accidently touch her phone if it was on her desk.
If someone ever had the indecency to ring me from a loo I would hang up. How revolting. Like I actually need to share that experience with them.

I totally agree with you on that one. You know a former friend mine had the nerve to call me while she was in the middle of having sex?!!! Nasty!

I say, if you've got the genitalia, use the corresponding lavatory.

:D :D :DOr you could yell out loudly,"don't anyone flush the toilet1someone's on the phone!'I don't mind transgender people--I'm not always 100% sure if the person is one anyway.Cheers!

my friends have been known to call me while in the bathroom...it really doesn't bother me. i rarely even realize they're in a bathroom until after the fact. :P
as for transexuals using the same bathroom as me...as long as i have my own stall, i don't really care.

And to prove your point, all of the males (minus Race Bannon) are responding against this. :)
Subject: Re: Your opinion please
If I was a woman in the ladies with a transexual - hmm! That could be tricky . . . I mean trying to get 'him' to prove he was transexual would be a difficult. :D
Subject: Re: Your opinion please
I could care less. As Catwoman said, I've also been known to use the men's toilet. As long as I have a door, I don't care who is in there or not.

Subject: Re: Your opinion please
That's a thought provoking question.
In my opinion I would say the "lady" had the right to use the ladies' room. If that was a problem for the older woman, she should of just walked a blocked up the street to another public washroom. And besides, I've seen little boys in the ladies' room so it's not really any different.
