Subject: How many phones?
How many telephones do you all have in your homes? Do you have a designated line for your computer, or does the whole family fight over the phone vs. PC? Just thought this would make a fun topic to see how technologically advanced everyone was.... :D
As for me, I have two phone lines. The one I go online with doubles as a fax and voice. The other line has three phones hooked up, one in the office, one in the bedroom and one in the hallway. But I only have long-disatance on the multi-purpose line, which means I have to log off if I want to phone further than around the block... ::)
Subject: Re: How many phones?
We have 2 telephones on the same line, I'm on a cable modem.
We used to have another line but my old man got rid of that when cable became available.
Subject: Re: How many phones?
I have two extensions, but only one line :'(
It is a modem connection to the internet, so when the phone rings the PC cuts out. >:( >:( >:( >:(
I can use call waiting that tends to be inconsistent >:(

My family has 3 phones and only one line. It works out because we don't need the phone for our internet...we have DSL connection. :D
Subject: Re: How many phones?
We have two phones and one phone line, so when i'm on here my mom is usually mad.
Subject: Re: How many phones?
We have cable for our Internet access, so we only have one phone line. We have a phone in the kitchen, the bedroom, the living room and two in the office (one on each of our desks.) The kitchen phone is the only phone that isn't cordless. Is five phones too many for two people? And that's not counting our cell phones.
Subject: Re: How many phones?
Hmm, two in kitchen, one in dining room, 3 in office, since fax and answering machine double as phone lines, one in bathroom, one in parent's bedroom, two in basement, and two in up stairs, makes about 12 phones. I win!

Subject: Re: How many phones?
Yes - I want more phones. I don't get bugged enough by telemarkerters and the like now. I have one line, one cell and my internet is cable.
Subject: Re: How many phones?
We have one phone line. DC did hook up an extension so that we had two phones but then we went on-line-the extension phone was replaced by the computer. Everyone complains because they can't get through because we are always on-line. This is an old house that is why there is only one phone line. The irony of it is that the phone company used to be in our livingroom about 30 years ago.

Subject: Re: How many phones?
Well if we're counting cell phones then that's four in my house too.
Subject: Re: How many phones?
We have two phones (upstairs and downstairs) that use a different line to my Broadband internet connection. Which is nice . . .
I am one of the few people at work who doesn't have a mobile phone. They think I'm eccentric as a result.
Subject: Re: How many phones?
In our house we have a phone upstairs, a phone downstairs, Internet is broadband connection. There are three mobiles in our household as well.
Subject: Re: How many phones?
we have one phone line. hooked up to this one phone line are the computer and four phones. one is actually the kind of phone where you have to spin the disc over the number in order to dial. (i forget what it's called, i think it's a rotary phone?)
we have no cordless phones, as my father has banned them from the house. >:(
no cell phones, either.

he says that because we don't put the remote back where it belongs (on the table, next to the couch), we'll probably loose the phone forever under a chair cushion. ::) (this caused me to break a lamp today, because the phone cord and lamp plug got tangled...haha.)

ha ha, yep, and maybe in a few years one in my basement bathroom also...
Subject: Re: How many phones?
We should get a phone in the bathroom so when you're on the toilet you'll then hear a
*"RING"* ;D

Those rotary phones are sooooo cool! How awesome!
I don't have a cell phone, and I totally don't want one! I wouldn't call anyone anyway, I hate talking on phones.
The bathroom is a very smart place for a phone. When the phone rings, chances are you're in the bathroom, it's weird how that happens.
Subject: Re: How many phones?
One telephone here. There are three phones sitting in the corner collecting dust...does that count. ;) I do have two cell phones, had three but sold one recently.
Subject: Re: How many phones?
We've got one phone and connected to that is a phone in the hall, a phone on the sitting room, a phone in the study and a phone in our bedroom. Plus the computer in the study via a modem and theres a socket for a phone in the lounge as well.
I've got a mobile but my husband doesn't at the moment. He's had two different ones but managed to break them both ::)

Every preppie at my school has a cell phone. ::)
Subject: Re: How many phones?
I have a dedicated DSL line for my computer and home office calls which my employer pays for - yippee! However as it's a standard monthly charge my wife and kids can use it in the evening too.
We have a separate cable line for the domestic calls - 4 extensions around the house. Plus a cell phone each for me and my wife.
Subject: Re: How many phones?
Let's see...2 phone lines, cable modem for the computer & 2 phones in the office/study, 1 in the family room, 1 in the kitchen, 4 in bedrooms, 2 in the basement, 1 in the upstairs office over the garage & 1 in the garage. Oh, and 2 cell phones. We have a jack in the bathroom, but no phone as it shorted out when it got wet. :-[
