Subject: Who Is Familiar With "The Sad Cafe" By The Eagles?

Written By: lebeiw15 on 09/18/03 at 03:10 p.m.

This might sound dumb, but is there supposed to be a part in the middle that sounds like the CD is skipping?  Thanks.

I'm familiar with the song, but I don't recall a part that sounds the way you said.  Let me go and listen to my CD again and I'll get back with you.  :)

Okay.  It's more towards the middle of the song, and then goes back to normal again.  I was wondering because it sounds the same way every single time I play it (which has been four or five times so far) and I just got an Eagles Greatest Hits CD, which has hardly been played let alone scratched up, so I am hoping it's not skipping already. ???  Thanks for your help CF. :D

I'm listening to the song for the second time right now and have not noticed anything that even comes close to resembling the sound of a CD skipping.  My next question was going to be to ask you if you'd downloaded it, but you already answered that by saying that you bought an Eagles Greatest Hits CD.  That's the same one I have.  Have you tried cleaning the disc?  :-/

Actually I burnt it from a friend, but that CD didn't have any scratches either.  I wonder what is wrong. ???  CDs usually don't skip if you burn them from another disc.  I don't think any other of the songs on the CD skip.  There is like one scratch on the disc but it is very light and is probably from being placed in my CD book.  Oh well, I will try cleaning it.  I still have the songs copied to my computer.  Thanks for listening! ;D

Hey, the best part of this is that I'm now listening to a CD that I had not heard in a while.  ;D ;)

Seriously, I hope you get the problem fixed.  If cleaning it doesn't help then I would suggest that you purchase the CD at the store.  Trust me, you'll get your money's worth with this one!  ;)

Hmm... I just listened to the copy I have on my computer (from when I copied it from my friend's CD) and that skips, too. :-/  I guess the skips from her CD got copied or something...

Yeah, that could happen.  Was hers an original CD or did she download the songs?  I've found lots of problems like that with downloaded music... :-/

So have I, that's why I don't burn a lot of CDs off the Internet, but rather from other people.  Yeah, this was an original, Greatest Hits Volume 2, it had a black dartboard (or maybe it's a record) on the cover, I believe.

The original CD is probably fine.. your computer may have tried burning the disc too fast, or you may have been trying to use it while burning, which would case an improper burn.. I'd say drop the speed down on the burner and just use the burner software with nothing else running in the background..

of course me, I'd just find a used copy somewhere.. you can probably find it for $5 somewhere, it's a an old CD that's pretty easily found.. I generally only burn stuff I can't find (or refuse to spend > $40 on)
