It looks like a good list.  Of course, I'm not as big a fan as you, so I haven't heard all of those songs, let alone criticize their order.  On the other hand, I think "Scenes From an Italian Restaurant" "All For Leyna" and "The Entertainer" could have been a little higher... :)  But that's just me.  Otherwise, a lot of my faves are up there on the list.

"Until the night?" that is one killin' song! ;D, it wasnt there though... :-/

Good list!  I consider myself to be a Billy Joel fan, but there were a lot of songs on there I haven't even heard of!  I probably wouldn't have put "The Stranger" at #1; it is a little too disco-y for me.  And why isn't River of Dreams (the CD) representing?   :'(  

I don't think Billy Joel has fifty good songs (yeah, I consider him pretty overrated.)

I think Summer Highland Falls is his best work; I think Big Shot is his worst.  What a terrible terrible song.

Also, like it or not, Uptown Girl is one of his peaks.

well, I dont feel that River of dreams is among his best work....if I was to expand this to 60, then River of dreams, Lullybye, and shameless would all have been in that..(Plus Uptown girl, Tell her about it, Shes always a women, pressure, Allentown and a few more)....It would probably have to go to 70 to include "all about soul" and to 100 to include Good night saigon...I hate that song

That's cool; I was just wondering!  "Goodnight Saigon" isn't one of my favorites, but it's one of the few songs I can play well from my Billy Joel's Greatest Hits 1&2 piano book, so I guess I have some respect for it in that regard.  :-/
