well, the first December 1963 was the early 70s if I remember correctly.....
Frankie Valli went solo in the late 60s first (with "Cant take my eyes off you" and again in the 70s ("My eyes adored you" and "grease" )....he still tours on the oldies cercuit, so you can add 2000s there too

Subject: Re: My Music
Missed the last couple, Howard (you're going too fast!) - but back on track with 4...
O'Jays - Use Ta Be My Girl 4 - handsome! A bit sugary in places, but one of their finest...
Doobie Brothers - Real Love 3 - not quite one of their classics, but okay nonetheless...
KC & The Sunshine Band - Sound Your Funky Horn 4 - another of their earlier efforts, bumps along nicely...
Stevie Wonder - Never Had A Dream Come True 4 - rarely heard these days (which is a pity...), mellow-ish piece from the man before he attacked the "serious" stuff...
1910 Fruitgum Co. - Simon Says 3 - likeable piece of bubblegum, just a tad overplayed...
Gibson Brothers - Cuba 4 - big, clumping slab of "Eurodisco" (or what passed for it...), huge in clubs as I recall...
Michael Jackson - Speed Demon 1 - yeuch!
5th Dimension - Working On A Groovy Thing 3 - harmonies as immaculate as ever, song's a bit weak though...
Lou Christie - Lightnin' Strikes 5 - Heh! Couldn't be anything else! Cod blue-eyed soul sound...Great use of that falsetto...
Chaka Khan - Once You Get Started Not sure if this is one she's done solo or whether you're referring to the Rufus version - if it is, then 4 - she was much better in this group format...
Stevie Wonder - Higher Ground 4 - another great rattler from the man...
Meters - Cissy Strut 5 - absolutely fantastic - should've had much more success this group...
Mary Wells - My Guy 5 - textbook example of how to write (Smokey) and execute a perfect 2-and-a-half minute pop/soul song...the big breakthrough hit for Motown here, and small wonder...

I obviously liked 'Word up' and 'Single Life'
Jerry Lee Lewis
Had a great style about him despite his background, an accomplished pianist - 'Breathless' and 'Great balls of fire' are great!
The Lovin Spoonful
Had a 60s style about them. Liked 'Lazy Sunday Afternoons'.
Queen
Unique classical trained band that gave us classics like 'Good old fashioned lover boy' and 'Bicycle Race'.
Chicago
Great band that had a sound all of their own. Loved 'Hard habit to break' and 'You're the inspiration'. Was Peter Cetera the lead vocals of this group? If so, he had an unmistakable voice - his solo career was good as well.

Yes, Peter Cetera was the lead singer from the mid-70s (correct me if I'm wrong) to at least 1989. I believe he went solo in the late eighties. His voice is okay but I much prefer older Chicago (Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?, 25 or 6 to 4, Saturday in the Park, etc.). :)
