I think lots of us here are fans.

Nowadays, when something bounces back-and-forth (not literally), I will remark to my brother "Now it's too deep". And of course it's in my .sig

Yeah, man. I just felt that urge to pay tribute again.

Let's see how many of us fans are still around here.

I haven't read any stuff in ages but I do like it.  I think all of the different characters (superhero, detective etc) he adopts are very funny.

I'm looking for this book at home cause I know its got a haiku in it somewhere about Hobbes but I can't find the book.

Calvin and Hobbes is my all time favorite comic strip.  It was a sad day when it came to an end.

Calvin had some great lines:
""I say, when life gives you a lemon, wing it right back and add some lemons of your own!"

"To make a bad day worse, spend it wishing for the impossible."

"Well, it just seemed wrong to cheat on an ethics test."

"There's no problem so awful that you can't add some guilt to it and make it even worse!"

I remember Calvin asking his mom if he was a larvae that pupated at age 2 and when she looked at him as though he were nuts he ran to his Dad and said something like "ok, Mr. Britanica"

A couple of years ago, Bill Watterson decided to stop drawing Calvin and Hobbes. So that was that.

I think it was a lot more than a couple years ago. It was at the end of 1995 (8 years ago) when he called it quits.

It was a great strip, though.  :D  8)

Just kidding  ;D ..but by the same token I was kinda sad when it was discontinued; I enjoyed reading it.

One of my favorite things about that strip was Calvin's cardboard box. He used it as a transmogrifier, a time machine, and even a duplicator! (But the transmogrifier was the most common.)

Oh, and how about Calvinball!  :D I loved reading the Calvinball strips.

I used to read it when I was a kid.  I never understood some of the more mature comics, because of the big words that were used so much.  But the goofy funny stuff I loved.  Now I know the mature comics better, but still love the goofy stuff.  It was truly an all-range comic strip.

A favorite which I didn't see until much later:

C:  "If you could have anything you wanted, what would it be?"

H:  "Anything?"

C:  "Anything at all!  I would wish for..*** (I forgot, but it was big)!"

H:  ponders... "a sandwich."

C:  "A SANDWICH?!?!  WHAT AN AWFUL WISH!  THIS IS WHY HUMAN KIND IS SO MUCH SMARTER THAN ANIMALS!(or something)"

Later, in the kitchen, Hobbes is eating a sandwich.

H:  "I got my wish."

My favorite story is when Calvin is pressured into playing sports because all the other boys are playing it at school.
Susie:  "Relax.  Stupidity produces antibodies."

A few other lines I remember:

"A good compromise leaves everyone mad."

(after watching a soap-opera)"Sometimes, I think I learn more at home than at school."

"This book really makes you think... it's complicated my life.  Don't get me any more."

(at school)"WHAT ON EARTH AM I DOING HERE ON THIS BEAUTIFUL DAY?!  THIS IS THE ONLY LIFE I'VE GOT!!"

Here's one I found that's just brilliant:
