Don't feel bad. Every summer is like that over here. Maybe not rainy, but still cold and windy (and foggy). So much for that famous warm California weather. ::)
Subject: Re: SUMMER
I live in the UK and today it was sunny. It is also the logest day as it is light until around the late night.

From one NewEnglander to another, I am sure you put as much faith in the local weather forcasting as I do. However, I heard that warmer weather is coming our way. It is just a rumor though. ;D I will just settle for a weekend without rain.

Not sure, but I think it was Danial Webster who said, of New England weather "If you don't like the weather, wait a minute".
How true. I do look at the forecast, but decide what to do based on what it looks like when I get up in the morning ;D
Snow tomorrow ;) ;D

I'm totally with you on that one..I'm starting to forget what Summer feels like. I've never seen this much rain in my life! :-[

Today it was 15C (about 59F). That's about the normal minimum temperature in summer here. And the wind blowing up from the snowfields is making it feel even colder.

It's been raining for hours here in sunny Southern Ca. ::)

Typical Colorado weather here....warm and sunny until about 1 or 2 pm..then the thunderstorms come...with the exception of last years drought. upper 70 to upper 80's for now

Is that why it's called "New England", because it's just like the old one?
It was pretty hot & sunny here, most of the day - just some brief rain while I was making a cover for the sandpit ;-)

today is hot. the air conditioner's working out here in the computer room (yay!) and sadly, my room is a greenhouse. (boo.) it's really hot, and i'm starting to wonder if the black posterboard i have taped in the windows is contributing to the heat...i wish it was winter again... :(

Only an hour? We lost ours for about 5. But it was in the middle of the night so we basically slept through it rather than wondering what to do with ourselves with no electricty. ;)

This year we've had a real summer here in the UK. Not had one like this for a while. 8)
Today thankfully it has cooled down a bit but over the weekend several places reached 100 fahrenheit. It was a bit less than that where I live.
The main problem with this weather is that most homes and many work places aren't air-conditioned. I've been measuring the temperatures in some offices in my building and they were easily getting to the mid-90's last week although the outside was 'only' low 80's. Also the humidity is a problem here.

Strewth...! Tell me about it, karen...the south had the hottest day on record yesterday (Sunday) in Gravesend, Kent - 7 miles from here...unbearable wasn't the word for it...!
And as for air-conditioning, I'm quite convinced that our firm is still entrenched in the dark ages...air-conditioning is defined as how far you can get the damn window open! Fans are like gold dust in that place! As for the trains...
I, for one, would love to see (and feel) a bit of "normal" weather on the way back - it'll be strange actually getting into a bed again, instead of collapsing on top of it...!

That's the funniest thing about our weather (and probably why this fair nation is so obsessed with the subject)...where you can actually fry eggs on the back of a garden spade in one part of the country, whilst not a couple of hundred miles away some kind of monsoon is in full tilt...crazy...

I have been hearing how you Europeans have been frying over there. I can't say that I envy you. I hate hot and humid weather. I hope things cool down for you soon. In the meanwhile, try to stay cool as much as you can. Go jump into a lake. ;)

What and risk catching Weil's disease? ;)
Actually, tragically, several young people have drowned trying to cool off in the rivers, canals and lakes. The shock of the cold water is just too much for them, or they quickly get out of their depth.
Round here you're likely to get tangled up in all the shopping trolleys that have been dumped in the water.

I'm not much of a swimmer, and it does get hot on the lake, so I plug up the cockpit drain and fill it up with lake water. At first its a bit cold, but as I get use to it, it becomes a nice cool bath, and if it gets too warm, I can always throw in another bucket of water. Some people think it strange, though that I bail water INTO the boat ;D ??? ;)
Subject: Re: SUMMER
I do feel for all you "northern" people suffering in the heat, especially for you Europeans who are totally out of your recononing with it. Drink lots of non-alcholic fluids, wash your hands, faces, wrists, douse your heads. Stay out of the sun, and use sun screen. Fall is just around the corner.
