Subject: Cursed music...

Have ya ever had a certain tape, record, 45, etc that you wound up coming to believe that you just weren't meant to own?
My example:
The Cars Greatest Hits

I bought it on cassette shortly after it came out.  Listened to it mostly in my car.  At some point, I prolly changed it to REM or something, and one day a friend got out of my car, the cars tape fell out and I rolled over it as I pulled out of her driveway.  A week later, I replaced it.  This one I think wound up melting on the dash of my boyfriends car.  The 3rd copy got lost during a move.  Needless to say, I gave up on the idea of permanently owning a copy of this tape.  I've outsmarted the music demons this time tho!  This Wednesday I bought it on CD!   :P

hmmm...good question...

Id have to say that, if Im ever going to another all day wrestling tourniment, "Nylon Curtain"-Billy Joel, on tape, is not a good idea to bring and listen to...did it once, lost, lost, lost lost...I dont think that "52nd Street"-Billy joel was too much more luck...won, won, lost, lost, lost...

I don't think my mom was meant to own any of her Celine Dion or Michael Bolton tapes because I believe they are cursed and have made me suffer much pain over the years.

Interesting question.  Godsmack / Godsmack.  I've owned this CD four times.  It has been stolen twice, now I own two copies of it.  By mistake, of coarse.

Someone keeps swiping my Living In Oblivion CD's!  I keep buying new ones and they keep disappearing.

Speaking of "cursed"....one Halloween back in the late 80's, I was listening to one of my Dio records. (Yes...on vinyl.  CD players were a bit too expensive for me back then.)

It was Halloween remember.

For those of you not old enough to remember, vinyl records were very, very easily scratched.  And if you had the playing arm set to the wrong tension it could and would skip for no apparent reason.

Did you forget that it was Halloween?

So I'm listening to the record.  Which was new.  So I did not think there were any scratches on it yet.

All of a sudden on this Halloween night.....the singer suddenly burst forth with a verse I'd never, ever heard before.  :o :o :o :o :o

I jumped three feet straight up in the air, screamed and refused to listen to that particular album for almost ten years.  :P  I thought it was "cursed".

Especially since it was near midnight.....on Halloween.

Eeek..wonder if that was the same Halloween my town burned down...

Cursed tracks? hmm..
REO Speedwagon..when I was a kid, my mom and I loved it and played it 'till it broke..
then I got another when I was a teen-ager, and my friend who thought they sucked stole it from me..guess he was  a closet fan...then I got older, got the CD...someone borrowed it a few years, still has yet to return it..then I downloaded some of the songs on MP3..backed 'em up to disk before a format, and the disk I made trapped the viri I was re-formatting to get rid of..

guess I'll just wait for those songs on the radio...

I don't the RIAA is trying to stop me from making any mix CDs....all but a couple skip, and a few the label (not the label that I make, but the actual label that is put on there by the company) has ripped off, making the CD unlistenable, because the CD then becomes just a clear plastic peice of crap.

I was once listening to Fat Lip (Sum41) on the CD, and the bit where the drummer sings was completely muted. the music was still there, but you couldn't here him at all.
But what makes it freakier was that later that day, while watching a Sum41 concert on TV, the drummer's mic wasn't working for the first couple verses of Fat Lip.  :o

As a kid, my mother had (believe or not) an 8-track player (remember those?). She had the tape of the musical 1776. By the time that tape died, I got my own stereo and got the LP-yes, vinyl. I lost that in a move not too long after I bought it. Then, my sister made a copy for me on cassette. Well, that tape was eaten by a hungry tape recorder. So, that was 8-track, vinyl, and cassette. Maybe if I can find it CD I will be able to hold on to it for a while.

Spacehog's "A Space Hogdesy". A bad title, a bad CD.
Alan Parsons Project "Ammonia Avenue" Boring

One time my sister ordered a Barbra Streisand record from Columbia House in the 70s. But because she messed up filling the boxes, (where the double albums had 2 numbers) she ended up getting Montovanni and Ferrante and Teischer.  :D

My "Chocolate starfish and the Hot dog flavored water" CD fell on the floor and broke into at LEAST 15 pieces....normal situation sure, but not when the chair is a foot off the ground.
Definitely weird.
