Subject: A point to ponder...
Seems like most kinds of food we buy these days are safety sealed, right? Peanut butter, most things in jars, blah blah ... but have you ever wondered why some kinds of ice cream DONT have the safety seal? Most do, but I've bought Edy's, Starbucks and a couple others that didnt have the seal. YES, I'm bored so far this morning...but I really did think it was odd.
Please let this day go by fast.... :P

if you hold a Bic pen upside down vertically, and look at that little black part(or blue or red depending on the pen) at the end at eye level...its a trapazoid!
Now ponder that!

Anyone else notice how you can never fold a piece of paper in half more than seven times ???

Beating Tao and Philbo to the punch...that's like trying to fold 2^7 pieces of paper, or 128 pieces, in half. Try folding a small children's book in half ;)

I only got so far as 6 times on an 8 1/2"x11" sheet. How do you get 7 ???

Thereby proving my point exact that you cannot fold ONE piece of paper more than 7 times ;)

I still want to know why some Little Debbie snacks come twin-wrapped and some come individually?
Subject: Re: A point to ponder...
And what about those signs on the roller coasters at amusement parks, the big ones, that say "Please Remain Seated" (especially on the high peaks and while you're on the loop)? Isn't it impossible to stand up when you have a huge lapbar over your shoulders and across your stomach chaining you down? And who would be dumb enough to stand up on the loops anyway ???
Okay, I'm finished. ::)

Start with a thinner piece of paper - good quality origami paper will allow seven folds (if you're allowed the last bit as a bend, rather than a fold, you can get to eight - I argued that one with my physics teacher twenty years ago :-))

OK, my own one: on the Marylebone Road in London, there's a sign that says "No stopping at any time"... next to a set of traffic lights

What I really like to know is why do manufacturing companies don't want you to get into their products. The packaging on some items are so hard to get into. And some of them have wasted packaging. I bought a computer game one time-it came in a big box and all it was was just a cd. Oy vay. ::)

Subject: Re: A point to ponder...
Who made up portions for standardized packaging? The amount in a standard hot dog package and the amount in a standard hot dog bun package don't match. Why?
Why isn't there a 'Q' on the phone pad?
Why do we feel the need to say "Hello" when we answer the phone. Why not just "speak" or " I am here" or "what do you want" etc. And why do some people (I am guilty of this) say "Well I better let you go" when you are getting off of the phone..like you are holding that person captive.
On food, why is it some products have a "SELL BY" date instead of a "USE BY" date? I don't care about their sell by date I want to know when I can USE it man!
Why do people say "I could care less" when what they mean is that they COULDN'T care less?
Why do some people say, "I hope you don't mind if I ask you this.." and then they ask it anyway. If you think someone is possibly going to mind why are you asking??
And have you noticed in lotion bottles that have a pump you can never use the last of it because the pump won't work? So you have to try to dig it out or just toss away wasted lotion.
And you aren't supposed to drive in the breakdown lane right? But they don't exactly throw nails down there or anything...a person COULD drive in it if they really wanted to.
??? lifes little nagging questions......

:P :PActually there is a very good reason for that.Regular Coke contains corn syrup, which is a corn produvt.A lot of people are sensitive to corn products, which can cause bloating and diarrhea.a super size Coke would obviously contain way too much of this product for a sensitive individual.Kosher Coke doesn't have it,but it's hard to find.Cheers! :D :D :D

That's not the reason my parents drink diet Coke. They drink it because they want to lose weight. And yes, they order the Big Macs etc. etc.

Hey,that's cool! But is IS the reason I drink diet soda---I'm sensitive to corn products, and i likje the taste better, too.I don't drink it to lose weight--after all,it only has 100 calories, thereabouts.I'm just not able to consume too many corn products,or too much fat or sugar.Cheers!

Some people are on a diet of some kind off & on most of their lives...usually one part of that is switching to diet drinks. My mom-n-law got to a point where she preferred the diet versions because regular cokes seemed too sweet. So even when she isn't on a diet, she'll order a diet drink with dinner :P I totally see the humor in this one, and I've wondered about it myself, but this is one possible reason.

I may be able to help a little on this one too. My sister-in-law is a severe diabetic. She cannot drink regular Coke because it is sweetened with corn syrup, which is a form of sugar. So she orders Diet Coke, which is sweetened with a sugar substitute (Nutra-Sweet, I think).
As for the rest of the stuff she gets when at McDonald's....she readily admits it is junk....but then again she does not eat there every day....just once in a blue moon.
