Subject: Blind dates??
Anyone been on one, how did it go, was it love at first sight or did you run to the hills?
Subject: Re: Blind dates??
I've been on several. One was love at first sight, and we dated for a year before splitting up. The rest were all lust at first sight, and we dated for a night before going to bed and leaving in the AM.
Subject: Re: Blind dates??
No way. Blind dates suck. You should never go on a date with a stranger. Just like you should never meet someone from off the Internet. Bad idea. You never know if you will end up with an axe-murderer or some freaky STALKER. :o
But as for the show "Blind Date" on TV, funny stuff! Notice how they all end up not going on a second date at the end? It's cuz the producers of the show don't let the chicks get totally wasted drunk, so the dude's end up getting no action at the end of the night. Know what I'm sayin'? ;)

I know! They don't call her "one-eyed" for nuthin'. I was freaked out when I saw it and I asked her over dinner if I could touch it. I lightly tapped her glass eye with my fork and it went, "Tap tap." Freaky. She was gonna take it out, but I had had too many drinks by then and I could have horked if I saw the socket :o

I've never been on a blind date but I highly recommend meeting someone online. ;D

I've been on a blind date. The fella I was with turned out to be a dud...but I discovered a really cool restaurant so it wasn't a total loss.
The first thing that went wrong...the guy wanted to take me to this really great restaurant in Chinatown. But since it was a Friday night, the place was packed. He hadn't made reservations and there was almost a three hour wait.
So he took me to this little hole-in-the-wall family run place. They didn't have individual booths...just giant tables that would seat 8 or more people at a time.
The food was excellent!
The conversation was dull and boring. The guy and I just didn't connect.
My attention wandered over to the cash register in the front. One of the old aunties was watching a tv show. It was all in Chinese, which I don't speak a word of...but the movie was basically a "Three Stooges" plot...it was very easy for me to follow the plot.
After noticing me laughing at the movie...one of the waiters came up to me and asked if I spoke any Chinese since I was laughing along with "Auntie" at the movie. I told him no...but since they were doing "The Three Stooges" it was easy to understand. He asked, and I gave details when they were on tv.
A couple of weeks later I went back to the place with a couple of girlfriends and I got treated like a queen! "Auntie" was impressed that I liked her favorite movie, and she liked "The Three Stooges" too, after checking it out.

My friend is getting married next month to a GREAT guy she met via the internet. I just think that anyone can encounter an axe murderer or whatever while in a bar, at a party, at church, in school -it's been proven. You have to really get to know people a while before you meet blindly.
The show Blind Date is a disgrace to our country ! They critisize a man if he is not trying to get into the girl's pants right away and they choose women who make the show come close to porn. That show is only produced to entice an audience hungry for sex. It's pathetic how the people on it are exploited and made to look like fools.
My advice for blind dating is TO DEMAND A PHOTO of the person before meeting. As much as people don't like to admit it, looks do matter and you want the person to think you're okay as well as think he's cool-otherwise, people end up feeling lousey. Exchange pics first.
I had a blind date SUCCESS in 1980, -man was he gorgeous.I eventuall broke up with him for a stupid reason - but that's okay.
So many people who meet through unconventional means get the chance right away to discuss the IMPORTANT THINGS - like what type of relationship they are interested in.That's important. I don't think the means matters. What matters is that you have to develop a somewhat sharp judgement of character and make reasonable choices - no matter how the people meet.

Here I must agree with POP. Blind dates sk as a rule. Either the guy is just interested in... or the woman is. This is especially true of those newspaper "date finders". Sorry to be negative, but in a society where EVERYTHING is a commodity, well, why not we, and our bodies too? Isn't everything for sale?

Oh no, I asked YOU out so I would pay for dinner. I would even throw in dessert! You just bring your little old self and I will take care of the rest. ;) Although....if you brought the tequila it might make things more interesting. :D

Tequila could make it interesting alright, but I think I'd want to remember the night. Perfect strangers are SUPPOSED to be memorable. YOU can have the tequila.

Oh then no scrap the tequila, we will just drink Mockaritas. ;) I don't know about you but a date with a perfect stranger sounds very very interesting. Is this casual dress, formal dress? ;D
Subject: Re: Blind dates??
Well, it's a blind date and you want to put my experience to the test, so I'd say casual or formal? Whichever is easiest to remove!

Well forget the formal. I guess I will wear a summerdress and sandals. :) But how will I know it is you or how will you know it is me? I can't very well slap a giant sign on my front that says "HEY THUNDERVAMP IT'S ME!"
Subject: Re: Blind dates??
Good question. So, if a sign is out, what to do? BTW, how do you even know where in FL to go to?
Subject: Re: Blind dates??
Hmmmmm..I can read a map. I have scoped your locale....I was assuming that you were going to give me a few directions as to what restaurant we are going to. I could do something really dorky like put a white rose in my hair. :D Or....we could just go around asking people who they are. Hey! We could give the maitre D a special code and they could point us to the right table! Curiouser and Curiouser..... ;D
Subject: Re: Blind dates??
Well, I don't know if this would be considered a blind date, but I have gone on double dates with friends of a friend's boyfriend. ???
Subject: Re: Blind dates??
I went on a blind date about 10 years ago... it was a disaster!! Let me tell you, I couldn't end that one quickly enough!
Subject: Re: Blind dates??
I have known some people who have gone on disastrous blind dates. My best friend put a personals ad in the paper. She picked one of the guys who answered and set up a date to go for dinner and a movie. She also invited me to go along with my boyfriend. Well, this guy spent all of dinner talking to my boyfriend and ignoring her. Later she described the entire evening as "There was a personality conflict - I had one, he didn't". LOL
Blind dates can sometimes be okay though. This same friend of mine introduced me to a guy she had known from high school. She had known me since college. We have now been together for almost 17 years, and celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary on June 21.
Subject: Re: Blind dates??
I've only been on one - about a year and half ago. It went well. No awkward silence or anything like that. But nothing ever came of it. There was no real spark there, which was a good thing.
For one, I was home for Christmas (I'm from Detroit and currently live in New York state) and I don't do the long-distance relationship thing. Also, she works for the same newspaper back home at which I'm trying to work for myself, and dating a co-worker is something else I avoid.
But we still talk and get along great....as friends.
Subject: Re: Blind dates??
Two.In a row.First one I couldnt stand and wanted to marry me(after a blind date) >:(
Second one I married(not the day after!) ::)Were still married...the 4th will be 18 yrs.I think its time to go on another blind date. ::)
Interestingly enough, the first and second knew each other(they didnt plan the dates hadnt seen one another since first grade)
Subject: Re: Blind dates??
I'm totally AGAINST blind dates. As a matter of fact I'm against dates period. I've never had had a date that was actually good....something ALWAYS went wrong.
Subject: Re: Blind dates??
I've never had a blind-date and the only date I've been is with my current girlfriend and everything was fine.
We went for a meal - nothing extravagent but it was lovely.
