Subject: What Some Kids Will (And Won't) Do
In the privileged suburb of Harrison, New York on April 23, 2002, everybody loved Rob Viscome. But as he lay unconscious at a party that had spun out of control, Nobody called for help.......
Series of events:
1. Well into the party a fight started after a game of pool, when a friendly argument between Nick Rukaj and Rob turned vicious. Nick backed off, but his hothead brother Pat challenged Rob to a fight out by the pool.
2. Pat lands a punch on Rob's left cheek. "His body kind of swerved down" said an observer. She then heard his head smack the concrete.
3. Until John Porzio (A classmate and host of the party), it was a scene of muddled panic--and @ss saving. Nearly every kid at the party had a cell phone. No one called 911.
4. John Porzio orders that Rob be from his parents' property before police or medical personel are summoned. Friends carry him to the driveway. They drop him twice......

Good question!

Boy, with friends like that who needs enemies? Sounds like if Rob survived he needs to rethink his choice of friends.

He underwent surgery to reieve pressure on his skull and to remove the damage brain tissue. He was then placed in Intensive Care where he remained in a coma for 7 days after which he was still unresponsive. His father put the word out that people who wanted to say goodbye should start doing so. On April 30th at 7:54 p.m., the machines that had been breathing for Rob were turned off. Four days later was his funeral. Four days after that was his birthday. He would have turned 18.....his "Friends" showed no remorse.

That was really bad. I really don't understand how people can be so uncaring and heartless.
We had a story around here (not as bad but just as stupid). It took place at the place I used to live (after I moved out). Some kids had a party and someone on the porch threw away "smoking materials" before they were extinquished. So naturally the it caught fire. The stupid part came from the fact that 1)they could have moved it away from the building. 2) they thought that it would go out by itself until it caught the building on fire and 3) (the stupidest thing of all) they didn't want to call the fire department because they were underage and had a keg-so they let the building burn. They finally did call. That was my old apartment where that happened-a place that was very dear to me and it burnt because of stupidity. >:( After 2 years, my old landlord sold the place and they are finally reverbishing it.

Friends?
Ya right.
Do you think the guy that killed him cares?
Are they pressing charges?

I hope they throw the book at those so-called "friends". >:( >:( >:(
Isn't there some sort of "good samaritin" law in that state? There is one here (I think it went into effect recently).

The lady prosecuter turned out to be friends with the @-holes and his family...the grand jury didn't think it warrented any charges....the case thankfully, is being re-opened
