Subject: The Greed Of Two Original "Doors"

Written By: RockandRollFan on 05/21/03 at 12:34 a.m.

Since Hairspray got some replies about the Rock Group I thought I'd take it over here.  John Densmore, the bands original drummer, is at odds with the greedy twosome of Robby Krieger and Ray Manzerik over lots of things.  When the Band formed in the early 1960s, Jim Morrison and the  group agreed that if a decision were to be made concerning the band, majority would NOT rule...therefore since Densmore has held steady with Morrisons belief that NO Doors songs would be featured in commercials, he has hit the two others with a lawsuit...IMO rightfully so. More power to John for his unwavering support of "The Lizard King" and may the two "Greedy Idiots" (In the Rock Dictionary refer to Lars Ulrich) finally learn a lesson in decency.......

Welcome to the real world. Money changes everything. More power to whoever wins.

And what's with the Lars Ulrich pot-shot? The only people who would say that about Lars are people who've never worked hard or taken a big risk a day of their lives for what they have.

Jim was too drugged out of his gorge to make any decisions for the band and, therefore, too deluded to think about principles. Everyone in the band worked just as hard. I'll be darned if some stick in the mud is not gonna let me get my fair share of the benefits from the hard work.

Sorry to piss you off...I respect your opinion and you have a right to it just like I have a right to mine. The Beatles never wanted thier music in commercial and in 1987 they successfully sued Nike for using "Revolution"....now that they no longer own the rights...Micheal Jackson has reaped in the dough ::)

Well, hey, maybe they should be more careful about who they can trust and write better contracts with knowledgeable lawyers (or have Yoko present at all Beatles-related business - she is a shrewd and ruthless businesswoman). It's a business. It's not a hobby. They're already in it for the love of music and their fans, now it's time to cash in on the hard work. It's the same harsh realization David Bowie came to and became a much better person, businessman, and artist.

MJ is a freak, but he knows the business end of music.

"Commercialization"? What is that anyway? All music is commercialized unless you just want to fiddle around in the garage for the neighborhood kids, so I can only smirk about the silly notions of selling out. Everyone sells out, not just artists. It's called a job. Being a musician is a job and if you get paid for your services, you have sold your craft. You have just sold out. I can only roll my eyes when I read stuff like "not wanting the music to be commercial." Then, what the Beatles wanted was to not have their music recognized. They did not want to sell out packed stadiums to screaming, young teens? What exactly did they want their music to be for their mass audience? Too many weird questions with obvious answers.

I hope Desmore gets head cancer for being such a putz.
