stories....not books, but like myths and scary myths and ryhmes...what kind are your fav?
Subject: Re: Favourite...
King Arthur tales. I find it to be very complex and intreging. I also like Greek Mythology. I can't say that there is one story that I like best, I just like it all. Ghost stories also-not the fiction ones.

Hmmm. Well, these myths and stories have been turned to books though...
Fables by Aesop
The Illiad and The Odyssey by Homer
Doctor Faustus by Christopher Marlowe
Le Morte D'Arthur by Sir Thomas Mallory
The Green Knight by Chretien Des Troyes (sp?)
The Nibelungenlied by Anonymous
The Song Of Roland by Anonymous
Sir Walter Scott's Ivanhoe by Sir Walter Scott
Bram Stoker's Dracula by Bram Stoker
Vampyre by John Polidori
I liked Ivanhoe best of all, though The Illiad and The Nibelungenlied also possess great qualities.

I love these too. Especially when I was a kid...we'd quite often played "Knights" instead of the usual cowboys n indian

I've always loved the Arthurian legend, and was into Greek and Roman mythology a number of years ago. Most anything medieval will catch my attention.

Head Knight: We are the Knights Who Say "Nee."
Arthur: No... not The Knights Who Say "Nee!"
Head Knight: The same.

I love vampire stories.
I also love sword & sorcery/fantasy, especially if the main character is a strong female. I find most of these are written by female authors as well.
I also like stories about ancient Egypt. Retellings of myths, or fiction, it doesn't matter to me. I find the cultures of ancient times facinating, and Egypt is the best known.
And Pirates!!!!!! Lots and lots of Pirates!!!! ARRRRRR!!!!!
Subject: Re: Favourite...
Curious George Goes to the Hospital and my second fave is Curious George Flies a Kite

I would recommend Barbara Hambly, but I imagine you're already familiar with her. I probably also don't have to tell you to stay away from John Norman's Gor series either. ::)

I know, I LOVE ghost stories as well, one of my favorite places is the Winchester Mystery mansion in San Jose CA Pretty whacked out place!

Another great place to go ghost hunting is visiting the graveyards in New Orleans, there is a big area for hauntings down there.

You're right, Lester, I am familiar with Barbara Hambly. And also Anne McCaffrey, Tanith Lee and Robin McKinley, to name but a few.
I've never heard of John Norman, or the "Gor" series, but thanks for the warning... :)
