Subject: Wedding Songs....

Written By: Gis on 03/29/03 at 02:04 p.m.

Ok Jonman gave me this idea (in the Stryper thread)what was/will be your wedding song ??
I haven't got there yet but I did joke I wanted to walk down the aisle to the orchestral version of Abba - Dancing Queen off the Muriel's Wedding soundtrack though my dear other half said if I did that we would have to go back up the aisle to the Imperial March from Star Wars ::) .
Our song is Angels by Robbie Williams mostly because when we got together it was a fancy dress party and I was dressed as an angel.
However as evryone and his dog has been having it as 'their tune' we have finally decided when the day comes we will have the first dance to'Over at the Frankinstein Place' from the Rocky Horror show. :)

Seeing that I inspired this thread I better post to it ;)

My wedding song was Bon Jovi's "Never Say Goodbye".  She said goodbye *sigh*

As I mentioned in the Stryper thread on the 80s board that if I ever get married again (yeah, right!) it will be Honestly. And she has no say in the matter. Whoever she may turn out to be! ;)

I always thought The Sundays' version of "Wild Horses" would make for a great wedding song.

AUtumn walked down the isle to Only Time an Enya tune and at the end of the vows we played Island in the sun (with that cool "hip hip" by Weezer.

Well considering I was married at "The Little White Wedding Chapel" in Las Vegas, I couldn't really choose which song to walk down the aisle to.  But, we were serenaded by Elvis after we walked outside the chapel & he sang "Love Me Tender ".   ::)  (just happens to me my all time worst Elvis tune)

Anyway, we had our reception on the top of The Stratosphere Hotel & had the band play "You Are Wonderful Tonite" by Clapton as we walked in.  Our official "first dance" was to "I Could Not Ask For More" by Edwin McCain.  (there wasn't a dry eye in the restaurant) ;)

I'd choose to have both 'Only You' by the Platters and 'Eternal Flame' by the Bangles.

In the church I walked down the aisle to Trumpet Voluntary and back to the Mendolsohn (sp?) Wedding March.

We started the dancing to Lady in Red (because it was our first smooch) and then Deeply Dippy by Right Said Fred.  We wanted I'm Too Sexy but thought his mum would choke!

Our first dance was to Peter Gabriel's "In Your Eyes".  Not exactly what I wanted, but it worked. ;)

We had the traditional songs when I walked in, and when we walked out.  While guests were being seated, we had "All My Life" by Aaron Nevil & Linda Ronstadt, and "Endless Love" by Lionel & Diana.  While we lit the unity candle, it was "Just You and I" by Crystal & Eddie.  I REALLY wanted one of them to be "Shining Star" by the Manhattans, as that is really 'our' song.  But there were a couple parts in it that could be thought of as sorta off color, so I didnt choose it.  We didnt have a real reception...was cake, punch, and mints in the gym of the church.  But if we had, our first dance would have been to "Shining Star" for sure!

For me, the song was Here And Now by Luther Vandross.  That was followed up with You May Be Right by Billy Joel, an incredibly appropriate tune to describe my other and I, and we followed that with I'm Alright by Kenny Loggins.  But Luther was our wedding song.

IF we ever do decide to get married, I would want "The wedding song" by Paul Stookey (of Peter, Paul and Mary fame) at the wedding itself and for our first dance it would have to be "La Isla Bonita" by Madonna which is "our song."  ;D

Yes, you did. That is a tough song to find since Aqualung albums are not sold in the US and only available as imports. It is a sublimely beautiful song. I had not heard something as phantasmagorical as that since Tuxedomoon. Thank you.

I just thought of a song that is seldom mentioned nowadays:

"Two Occasions" by The Deele (feat. Baby Face)

It's quite romantic, I think.

"I'll Be" is also a good song, although it's been destroyed by American Idol.
