Subject: Radio Games

I am sure most local stations have some kind of call-in game or a dj who does something outrageous. What are some of the ones that you think are funny?

There was one guy who used to call those 900 numbers. There was usually a very "breathy" woman and he would ask her "We can talk about anything I want, right?" She would say yes. Then he would ask her about some football game that was played the day before. She was caught off-guard and didn't know how to answer.

There was a game called, "Cop/No Cop." The caller would say either "cop" or "no cop" and then the radio station would call a local donut shop and ask if there was a cop there. If the caller got the answer right, they won. (By the way, the local cops put an end to the game.)

Funny!  There was a local station here who got into some trouble for asking people to send in photos of themselves nude in public places.

We had a DJ who used to play a game called "Dialing For Depaneurs", depaneurs by the way are what americans would call the 7-11. The dj would call the store and the contestant would have to guess how many times the guy at the store would say "hello" before hanging up.

Our local station, Jammin' 94, has a game they call the Jam Scam.  Your friends or co-workers call the station a day or two ahead and plan with the dj what they are going to do to you.  The dj then calls you up pretending to be someone else (a store manager, a bill collector, or whatever) and gives you a hard time just to see what you will do when you get really mad.  When he thinks it's gone far enough, he tells you who he really is, and who set you up.

One good one was where he called a woman whose car was towed away during the recent blizzard.  When the mayor declares a "snow emergency" you are not allowed to park on certain streets.  This woman's boyfriend went out and moved her car for her, but didn't tell her.  She kept calling the city tow lot to see if they had her car, but they would never call her back because they didn't.

The dj calls her, pretending to be the official from the city tow lot.  He tells her that yes, they have her car, but it is "undrivable".  She asks what he means, and he tells her that one of the snowplows hit it during the blizzard, and the car is undrivable.  Not only will she have to pay the original ticket, but she must pay a fee for each day that her car is taking up space in the city lot.  She mus also get her own tow truck to remove it.

Naturally, she is mad. The dj lets the conversation degenerate into an argument, (and "bleeps" out her swearing).  She is livid with rage (and who can blame her, really?).  He keeps telling her the whole thing is her fault, that's what you get for parking on the street ect. Finally she gets to a point where he has a lot of stuff to bleep out, and he tells her, who he is and that she's just been Jam Scammed by her boyfriend.  (He also tells her where her car really is.)

There is about three seconds of dead silence.

Then she busts out laughing!  ;D

It's a lot of fun to see who is going to swear, or cry, or yell.
