Subject: Looking for love
Where do you all go for lovin? When I was in college, I used to go to bars 4 or 5 times a week. In the past year, I only go once or twice a month, and now it is not to pick people up but to meet friends or because of a big sports game. Is there a good place to meet women when you are past the "bar stage"?

Professional training sessions. I went to some Human Resources seminars and it was full of attractive smart women. Classes for "mature" students at the local college too. I've always heard church as well but couldn't bring myself to that.

Just use your common sense. What type of person are you wanting to meet? If you go to a bar, odds are that you will meet "bar type" people. Bookstores are great for *usually* meeting intelligent people, or following Race's advice would be good.
It also depends upon what type of relationship you are looking for. Are you looking to hook up for a one night thing or for a relationship?

Take a salsa dancing class! :o ;D
In my salsa class there is a total of about 25 people, it's 60% single women & the rest men. Except me of course....I am the only married person in there!

Barns & Nobles, Borders or any Book Store, especially those which have a cafeteria/computer set-up.
Library
Town Meetings
YMCA
Hospitals
Schools/Universities/Colleges
All good places to meet decent and intelligent people. :)

There's also the chance encounter at the park. Remember to bring a cute puppy, major panty-dropping material there ;)

I used to go to bars 4-5 times a week to meet women. After destroying my lungs and liver with drinking and smoking, I finally met the right woman at an AA meeting.
I've since started drinking again, but only on special occasions, and the hockey game.

I've always heard that supermarkets are a good place to look for love, but I've never gone to a supermarket looking for love. I've checked out the women at a lot of online dating sites, but most of the women who meet the criteria I'm looking for aren't looking for a man like me, and those that are are not my cup of tea anyway. Maybe that certain lady will walk into my life…

I met my intelligent and decent significant other at a bar. We were there to see a band, got shamefully drunk and ended up dancing to "You Give Love a Bad Name". Now we're talking about marriage.

You're one of the fortunate few. Congratulations! :D

Me and Lauren were hooked up, something I was totally skeptical about. But I can honestly say that I havent regretted taking Mel's advice. :)

I've never gone looking for love, I let it come to me. Sounds vain, right? But it's not meant to be. I met my other on a retreat my best friend forced me to go to. I was on a two year break from relationships (too much too fast in college, I needed a break) and swore it would be longer, but I met him and it just happened (well, it wasn't love at first, just this really strong, amazingly fierce attraction).
The one rule I always had and never broke was never, ever pick someone up in a bar, never let alchohol impair your judgement. But it was fun collecting phone numbers, and I did wonder a few times about what would have happened if I had called one of those numbers.
My own opinion, which may or may not be worthless, is that if you're looking too hard for love, you'll end up settling for something less than you deserve. Look for fun, look for meeting new people and let love happen when it will.

Hubby and I met in a bar, too. We have been married over 8 years now. It does work, sometimes...

Well, I guess you're old enough to hear this :). I met my hubby on a weekend at a nudist camp. I wasn't looking to meet anyone, I was actually there to visit my mom and sisters. He was home on leave from the Army and my mom introduced us. Maybe not everybody's meeting place of choice but it worked for me. :)

At least you can't say you had anything to hide. :)
