Last week the first bone marrow drive was started here for a 5 year old little girl suffering from cancer.  She was given approximately 6 months to live if she didn't receive a transplant.  The drive was held for 3 days and thousands of people signed up to help this little girl.  Due to so few listed donors of ethnic background they hoped to find a match this way, among her own nationality.

Sadly, last night she died of respiratory failure....before the testing was even completed.  

Considering that our island is still recovering from a pretty devastating storm (second to hit within 6 months) it is nice to know that people's heart's are in the right place.  All these people willing to help out a little girl that they have never met.  If only she was able to hang on just a little bit longer....maybe things would have turned out differently.  

It just doesn't seem fair when something like this happens to a child. I know that when I get to heaven, I'll have answers to a lot of things that I can't comprehend here on this earth, but it just doesn't seem fair. Maybe her sickness pulled a community together that needed it, I don't know, it just breaks my heart to see children suffer.  :'(

that is really sad, and children are a real soft spot for me and well that just breaks my heart. But her families and all the lives touched by this little girl are in my prayers.  :'(

It is so sad when children get sick and die.  I will keep your community in my prayers...especially the family. :'(
