Subject: Favorite Comedian
Who is your favorite comedian and why?
Mine is George Carlin - because he is so anti-corporation and a non-conformist. And he can say the foulest things and still be taken seriously.
Second would be Steven Wright - He has great oneliners!

I liked that guy named Dennis Wolfberg. He was funny. He died several years ago.
I think Bill Bellamy is hilarious!
Subject: Re: Favorite Comedian
Eddie Izzard - Because he's unique in his field and also jokes about religion.
secondly it would have to be
Lee Evans - Because he's very funny and welsh too.
Subject: Re: Favorite Comedian
Robin Williams, George Carlin, and Steven Wright.

Richard Pryor
Sorry.....I forgot the "why". Because he was hilarious in any forum. And honest, and intelligent, and unafraid to laugh at himself.
I only just noticed that I was refering to Richard in the past tense. I know he's still alive but its still sad that when I think of him, I think "was". :(

I would have to agree with you and in the same order. George's 7 words You Can't say on TV has me busting up evertime I hear it. Also, love Eddie Murphy especially in his SNL days.

Don Rickles, *not* because he insults other ethnic and religious groups, but because he insults everyone equally, including himself, in such a way that it doesn't seem like an insult until hours later.
George Carlin, because he can think of things that no one else bothers to, or if they do, don't say out loud for fear people will think they are crazy.
Bill Cosby. I can relate to his earlier stories *as* a child equally as well as his later stuff told from the parent's viewpoint.
Subject: Re: Favorite Comedian
The duo Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer. Also, Dom Joly. (All famous in the UK!)

This won't mean a hill of beans to you non-Australian types.
My hero is the stand-up comic Steady Eddie. He gets on stage and does disabled jokes. Absolutely no disability is safe from his very original one liners. Eddie is spastic. He has trouble walking and, of course, his delivery isn't so clear and he regularly convulses on stage. But he's funny and has the heart of a lion. Here's an example of his work.
"I saw a girl the other day who was almost perfect. She had the face of an angel, really beautiful long hair, perfectly formed breasts, a great smile, great legs and a heart-warming personality."
"If only she had a limp or something..."
Anyone with the courage to do that gets my vote.

I've always thought Dennis Miller was great, the whole Monday Night Football gig didn't work out for him, but still. Also, Dana Carvey for his impersonations.
