Old English and English Leather colognes make me remember way back when I was a little girl. My dad wore both of them.
Also the smell of engine oil and gasoline brings back memories of "helping" my dad in the garage while he was working on his racecar. :)

The scent of honeysuckle reminds me of the few years I lived in southern Illinois. We had plenty of it growing wild around our country house.

The smell of spring pine and spruce around Mille Lacs lake. Even if I'm sleeping, that smell will wake we up.

The smell of the water evaporating on the hot asphalt after the street cleaner would spray high pressure water to push dirt into the gutter.

There are certain lotions and shampoos (I can't name them). I will smell them and for some reason I find myself back in my old room as a kid. I have no idea why. I keep racking my brain trying to figure it out. Maybe I used a shampoo that smelled like that. It is really driving me crazy why it always bring me right back to the same place everytime.

Skin Bracer aftershave. It reminds me of my grandfather and all the happy times I had with him when I was little.

wet bathroom floors, me and my brother after we were done in the bath, would throw all the water onto our giant bathroom floor and slide around on our naked butts ;D :-*

Musty, mildewed-then-dried-out paper. What my family always called "attic smell". It takes me back to long, rainy days when I was a very young child and my older brother would take me up to the attic, and teach me how to read with his old comic books.
After he married and moved to his own place, I still went up there on rainy, boring weekends to read comics and sometimes other books that I found up there.
Nowadays, I will go into a used book store just to find an old musty-scented book just so I can smell it. (for the record, I usually buy something, but not for the smell.)
Boy, do I ever get some strange looks sometimes... ;D :o 8)

Same for me Kimmers! It brings back memories of going down to the local co-op gas station with my dad, and watching him work on his 55 Chevy.

Definitely certain flower fragrances. I'm not sure what they are but a lotion or cologne will remind me of my Grandma. The first time I bought Mr. Bubble for my kids was like being three again. The smell that most reminds me of childhood is from certain plastics. They smell like Barbie accessories. Certain food does it too. Rye bread baking smells like my Grandma's house.

New cars always remind me of my grandad. He drove a company car and replaced it every two or three years so it always smelt new.
Certain scents remind me of the family bath talc we used to use.

Old Spice... my dad wore it. Also, the smell of bacon cooking.

Mine would have to be freshly cut grass as it would indicate the beginning of the summer period for me.
Subject: Re: Childhood Smells
the smell of banana. my little brother used to practically live off bananas when he was one or two, and i hated bananas. one day, he even took the effort to perserve the scent of banana by hiding it in this wagon we used to have, where it was uncovered TWO WEEKS later. lmfao. it reeked, and the smell never went away! i have a lot of odd memories. ;D

Also another childhood smell would have to be cod liver oil. This is because once, my brother told me a cod liver oil tablet tasted of strawberries, so I bit one open and to my suprise had a mouth and chin smelling of cod liver oil for the next 2 days. It was funny though ;D

(cod liver oil......horrible memories)
Well whenever its getting cold and humid outside I always think of my grandma's house.....probably cuz she's in MN.
I don't think that humidifiers exactly have a smell, but they always remind me of my childhood when I'd be sick.

The woods when we would go camping. It was always so great to get out of the city.
Unfortunately, a lot of the Northern Arizona forest grounds were lost in the terrible wildfires this past summer. Colorado residents can relate to this too I'm sure...

Another smell would be the smell of Pop Tarts in the toaster. I used to have them but I just don't have them any more :'(
