Is that a good enough name for a baby?

I know someone who is expecting, she already knows it's a boy so she picked the name Corky ???

Reminds me of that kid on Life Goes On (I think that was the name of the show, I never watched it) that was "mentally challenged" (trying to be politically correct here ::) )

He was born with Down Syndrome and is a great example of what people with pre-conceived limitations can do.  :)

My honey's daughter (who is expecting) said that they are going to name their baby Bailey. Everyone asks, "Is that what you were drinking at the time?"

Some names are too weird.

Why would anyone name their kid Damian?  Do they tattoo "666" on his forehead before they bring him home?

There's a guy I see at work every day named Deerin.  Dee Rin.  I ALWAYS get it wrong and call him Deeron.   :-[

She still hasn't changed her mind.

I did give her a good list of names to choose from, but still, she likes " Corky". Then I asked, Isn't Corky short for Charles, or something?

Guess she has her reasons to like that name.

My 7 year old son's name is Chandos (pronounced Chan-dus) and it is a *gasp* old family name. No one teases him so far, and I love it, but I named him Chandos Joseph, so if he gets sick of it he can call himself Joe.  ;D

My daughters name is Maia. I love it as well, but it seems there are a crop of Maia's popping up  :( Her middle name is Rosemary another *gasp* family name, so she can call herself Rose or Mary or whatever if she gets tired of Maia.

Different names are great, but give the child options in case they don't want to be too different, or their name becomes "overused".

Chanos is cool, I think that one should be OK when he's older.  Is Maia pronounced as My-Ya?  I think that is a cool name too.

Thanks Race. Maia is pronounced to My-ya. I ripped  this name off from the Richard Adams novel of the same name. ;D

I am hoping Chandos will keep it. I have never been able to discover the origins of this name...it appears to be unique to our family  ??? Although my grandfather Chandos' mother always told everyone he was named after the mailman.....lol!

Unique but not bizarre names are great.  My wife and I have decided on Kenai (Key-Ny) if we have a boy and Keta (Kay-ta) if we have a girl. Kenai is an Alaska bourough, city, and River.  Keta is a name for a salmon.  I love salmon. ;D

I love these names. They are unique, an exotic touch, but not bizarre at all.  ;D

corky is kind of an odd name for a kid to me...mainly because my neighbor's dog's name.  ;D

lol, i wish my parents had been more creative in naming me.  overused names = not fun.  especially when teachers try to assign you a different name so they can tell you apart from other people...

"christine?  do you want to be called crissy?"
"no, christine."
"christy?"
"no."
"are you sure?"
"yes."
:)
