Subject: Guys-Helmet or Anteater? Girls-What do you think?
Helmet here. 1st time I saw an Anteater I was wondering what the hell is that! Wife and I have debated it if we have a boy child and I've come to the conclusion that why do if not necessary.
I'm interested in the people that have made this decision and why they chose to cut or not. Also, Anteaters, has it ever been an issue?
Subject: Re: Guys-Helmet or Anteater? Girls-What do you thi
That's a new way to put it.
I'm an anteater ;D And I guess it really wasn't my decision since back then I couldn't talk :P

I'm sure if offered the choice Anteater would have been your vote. ;)

Well let's put it this way...
If you were a boy baby in Australia an the 60's, it would be very unusual (VERY) not to be a helmet.....
;)
Is it an issue - who knows ? It's all I've known.... ??? I like being a helmet ;D (Just as well huh ? ::))

"Helmet or Anteater" ? ??? ???
What a strange way to describe it....
I've always heard it "turtleneck or crew neck".
As far as my, um, preference...they're all the same in action (I think), but I think turtleneck/anteater is more pleasing to the eye. ;) ;)
If I had a boy child, the only thing that would make me alter what nature gave him would be religious reasons ... helmet/crew neck is required by some groups.
Otherwise, I think people should not mess with Mother Nature. For the reason why, (and also why "oops" is a four-letter word in the doctor's world), check out As Nature Made Him by John Colapinto. It's the story of how a doctor said "oops" at the wrong moment....leaving a young man traumatized for the rest of his life. :'( :'(

My sons are helmets, we had the ummm..procedures performed before they left the hospital. This is not just for religious reasons but health reasons... I am not going to go into the health reasons here (I can't really without being graphic and Hairspray would probably kick me out of here) but I am sure you can look it up at webmd as to the main health reason. ;) BTW never have heard these metaphors before...funny! ;D
Subject: Re: Guys-Helmet or Anteater? Girls-What do you thi
I've heard the health reason argument, and I can say that keeping the helmut clean has always been easy, heck I wash up to 2 or 3 times a a day. ;) ;D But I've heard that an anteater isn't as much of a concern anylonger as long as the parent is good about taking care of it and the child learns early. I could see the concern in the days before indoor plumbing and cleanliness wasn't as practices as it is today.
I read the "helmut and anteater" analagy years ago and it stuck with me, kinda makes it easier to talk about.

I just talked to my mom on the phone about this. She tells me that "back in the day", new mothers were taught never to touch it, not even to clean it. Which made it fairly difficult (if not impossible) to teach boy children how to clean properly.
Then along came the pre-teen years when most, if not all, boys develop a severe aversion to soap. Enter the "hygeine" issue. I'm told this is what happened to many of my older male relatives. By the time my brothers came along, the "procedure" was standard practice. Moms were not only not asked what their preference was, they were given an argument if they did not want it done to their sons.
I'd like to think that people nowadays are not so uptight about such matters, and that the choice is made with full knowledge of all the facts before hand.
Subject: Re: Guys-Helmet or Anteater? Girls-What do you thi
Guess I didn't know much after all. The doc, nurses and my mother told me to have it done with both my boys because of the health/hygiene issue, and this was in 1995 and 1999. :-/
edited to note that I do not regret it. We also had it done because the boys would be like their father and would not feel strange or different from him.
Subject: Re: Guys-Helmet or Anteater? Girls-What do you thi
Don't fret helmet men, there are ways to morph into an anteater...I've seen it done ;) :o 8)

The "choice" concept may not be as widespread as I thought then, if the hygiene reason is still being suggested by doctors... :-/
As for looking like their father, I think that's the best reason to do, or not to do it.
Subject: Re: Guys-Helmet or Anteater? Girls-What do you thi
I didn't say this before, but reading above I am getting the impression that in the US the issue of choice is still available ?
I have long been under the impression that in Australia, these days, you would be hard pressed to find a surgeon that would be willing to perform the operation.... ???
Purely for the reasons that it is considered 'unnecessary'....

Subject: Re: Guys-Helmet or Anteater? Girls-What do you thi
Well, I live in the back of beyond, not to mention the Bible belt so maybe that is why everyone is so pro? :) As to unnecessary, probably. I have been in the health insurance biz for a long time and The companies I have worked for all allowed it as "medically necessary". So that is a good question!
Subject: Re: Guys-Helmet or Anteater? Girls-What do you thi
I live up in the Northeast, in a major city (Boston). There are two nationally-known medical Universities, six major hospitals (one is a Children's Hospital) and more than a dozen other hospitals with various specializations (Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Joslin Diabetes Center, ect.)
We also have a very, very large population of immigrants.
In the interest of being sensitive to other cultures, doctors around here seem to be taught not to assume that this procedure will be desired by all. Which results in new parents often being overloaded with "too much information" syndrome.
When my daughter was born, the woman in the next bed had a boy. She couldn't understand why the doctor asked her what she wanted to do--she assumed they would know. And it's a good thing they did ask. :o It turns out the doctor's natural preference was different than what she had expected it to be... :o
Subject: Re: Guys-Helmet or Anteater? Girls-What do you thi
Am I seriously the only anteater here? I must be special!
Subject: Re: Guys-Helmet or Anteater? Girls-What do you thi
You ARE special, Rice. ;) In many different ways. ;D
Subject: Re: Guys-Helmet or Anteater? Girls-What do you thi
Anteaters are People too Rice!
This is more interesting that I thought, it really is dramatically different in not only different countries but different parts of the US. Whatever the decision made I don't think that it will make to much differnace either way. The one argument to keeping it natural that I've read is it remains more sensitive when "rests" covered, of course maybe that's as strong an argument For getting it done. ;)
Subject: Re: Guys-Helmet or Anteater? Girls-What do you thi
In Britain you would have to argue for the operation. It's definitely not standard practice.
Therefore, as to which I prefer, well I only know anteaters.
Subject: Re: Guys-Helmet or Anteater? Girls-What do you thi
Believe it or not, this issue was brought up on an episode of "Seinfeld" (thats what I loved about that show. To be "the show about nothing", they tackled sooo many subjects). I liked the way Elaine put it. When asked her opinion she said she preferred the helmet. When asked why she stated that the anteaters "just didn't have enough.....(schrunches her nose up and imitates a little dance)........personality."
Oh yeah......like shazzaah said.....here in the "Bible belt", its helmets rule!!

How long did it take and was it painful? I've always wanted to get the truth about it as the show I saw it on never admitted anything was painful!
Subject: Re: Guys-Helmet or Anteater? Girls-What do you thi
Funny...I actually thought she was talking about shrinkage.
Shrinkage doesn't really hurt so much as it's annoying. It's like, "hey, where are you going!? get back out here!" :P
Subject: Re: Guys-Helmet or Anteater? Girls-What do you thi
From a general perspective....
"Helmet" Rules!!! ;D
Subject: Re: Guys-Helmet or Anteater? Girls-What do you thi
Quoting:
Are you talking about having a procedure for a helmet? Because, yes, THAT IS very painful - for weeks. When you wake up from the surgery it's all stitched up and has band-aids and gauze (OW! Removing that sh!t was the most painful thing I can remember). Then it just feels "tender" for a long time...a very loooong time (no way would a guy want to wear jeans for while). The worst part was getting a... tent. I actually had to stop and stand still to let it subside because walking hurt :) :D ;D
Oh yeah! And I was worried I'd lose the ability to... dance with myself...
End Quote
No, I saw on cable where you can turn your helmet into an anteater. It involves stretching the skin back until the helmet is no longer there. Basically the same type of concept as stretching your earlobes, etc., but just using different "tools". Kind of like how some African cultures stretch necks, lips, etc. I realize that having the surgery done would hurt ::) You forget, I have 3 sons...

Okay, I'll byte: Name ONE person with a doctorate in physiology or a doctor who's a urolologist who claims "size matters." I did a research paper for a psychology class and all the references I had pro-size thing came from Vogue and the porn industry. Figures. It's the only way to keep people entertained. All it takes is something the size of an index and middle finger to stimulate the erogenous zones. Females who've... double-clicked the mouse should know that by now. A lot of it has to do with stimulation which is only done indirectly with the ol' in-out, in-out (or else, why'd you think there are so many female comedians out there making fun of guys' techinque?). When a female has a size preference (length), it might have to do with liking it... rough. I could be persuaded to think otherwise though, but it'd take some bonafide credentials.
Aesthetically though, bigger does look better and seems pleasing. Small ones look funny and ineffective/ineffectual. Heck! I'd O.D. on those thingy-enlargement pills if it meant it would give me a 14" monster 8) But it won't guarantee sexual pleasure for a lady. It's just for looks and for ego :) :D ;D

I'm familiar with a saying that goes "It isn't the size of the boat, but the way it floats, not to mention the motion of the ocean." The only person I have heard of that size matters to was Freud. And probably some adult film stars..might make the difference in their paycheck. If size does matter to other women, I have not heard the gals that I know say so when our "girl talk" time rolls around. Although I have 'worn a Helmet', I haven't gotten 'familiar with an anteater', so maybe my opinion doesn't count. ;D ;) :-[

All men are born with two grilfriends, righty and lefty. They have very different personalities. Righty is very aggressive and likes to jump in on things. Lefty is on the clumsy side, but has her own charms. If you really want to get something out of the ordinary, you can flip her upside down. OK- To summerize the thread:
Helmuts outnumber Anteaters dramatically
Anteaters are subject to hygien concerns :(
Helmuts have more "personality" :)
Anteaters may give off unpleasant oders. :P
Rice has a smallish Anteater :-/
John has a larger Helmut ::)
Both are comfortable talking at "length" about it. ;D

I know I'm a little late about talking about "size" but I want to make an observation that I noticed. Men who are muscular and thick are usually "small" and men who are skinny and boney are usually "big". I am not saying one is better than the other, I am just stating that observation. I never made it with the ladies because I don't have much down there, and if a woman saw me naked, she'd laugh her silly head off. They've been advertising this stuff called Enzyte that is supposed to increase the size, but I'm leery of the stuff. The Weekly World News, America's most incredulous tabloid, ran a story in August about a guy who doesn't have much down there and it said that he has slept with over 20,000 women! I don't see how!

If there was one thing to be picked-up/learned from this thread is that it seems women do not care about size, just how you use it. It's all in the technique. Someone earlier said a little-known truth....

If size is so important... what of the other qualifications? Can you benchpress your own weight? Can you run a mile in under 7 minutes? Are you, otherwise, healthy and fit? IQ? Profession? Sense of humour? Can you dance? Finances?
True. There are animals who need only one colour when displaying, but the one I admire the most is the peacock because he doesn't rely on red alone. A song bird too needs more than one note to attract the best mate for the season...

Cyclops the Anteater
A new action series coming soon on NBC featuring "Rice Cube"
Sounds like a ratings winner
Watch as Cyclops rages against the forces of evil and badness, from under the anonimity of his protective cowel....

Rice Cube is going to have nightmares about being attacked by helmets ! ;D
Helmets to the left of him
Helmets to the right of him
Helmets all around him

Backs to the wall, Rice ;)

And being a person that has been around the block more than the mailman, I will just say that I have had both...and I prefer helmuts!
Before you all go on thinkin' I'm a ho, I was married to an anteater my first marriage, and a helmut still. I always did like helmuts better, though. and when my son was born, he was snipped. :-X

It is not that big a deal. It may take a while for the second event to occur, and you probably will not get that much out, and it may hurt afterwards and turn blue, but it is do-able. Other side effects are the base returns to normal size but the helmet or anteater portion remains enlarged and changes color to a dark purple. OK, I miss a couple of days due to technical problems, and all the fun begins. ::) Oh well.
I admit to only limited experience, but I have "been introduced" to both Anteaters and Helmuts. I have a distinct preference for Anteaters. Here's why.
Mr. Anteater was younger than me, and had absolutely no experience. He had however, read a number of instructional manuals on technique, and more than a few naughty stories. He went out of his way to make sure I had as much fun as he did.
Mr. Helmut, on the other hand, was experienced. He claimed he wanted me to have fun too, but we all know actions speak louder than words. ::) ::) I finally understood how some women can compose shopping lists during, because they need something to occupy their minds till it's over.
Oh yeah! Mustn't forget! Mr. Helmut was bigger than Mr. Anteater. Size really, really isn't what matters. >:(
In the future, it will be the person attached that matters most, but an Anteater will have a much better chance of getting better aquainted with me. ;)

Bringing this topic up again :o ;D
As the partner of a helmet, huge fights were had when our sons were born (even had MIL throwing in her two bobs worth >:()
after much debate and discussions with our Obstetrician, who said he would happily perform the procedure, we decided to get the boys done. On both occasions I wept as they were taken away to be done. So it really gets up my nose when people say to me "So you let them mutilate your boys. Are your girls done as well? Why do people feel they have the right to comment on such a personal issue ??? They have no idea of the discussions that went on in our house before we decided to go ahead and do it.
On a lighter note - Did you hear about the woman who bought a coin purse made out of discarded foreskins? All she had to do was give it a bit of a rub and it turned into an overnight bag ;D ;D ;D

I think jaytees post makes it fairly clear. Trouble is we can't be too specific in case we traumatise the younger readers.
Ahem, we're talking about your private parts. Are you as nature intended (anteater) or did you have a little operation (a helmet). I think most Brits are the former.
