Subject: The Hoobs!
Has anyone else seen this display of pure genius? If not, I'll explain:
It's a kids' show about several furry aliens called 'Hoobs' that have come to visit Earth in order to find out more about humans, which they call 'Peeps', (adults) 'Tiddlypeeps', (kids) 'Squigglytiddlypeeps' (babies) and 'Wrinklypeeps' (old people).
Might sound just like any other kiddies' show, but 'The Hoobs' borders on X-rated. There are sooooo many naughty jokes that just sail over the toddlers' heads! Here are some classics:
(After they have found out what a gong is) "The best thing to do with my thing is to polish it, and then bang it."
(When they're dressing up) "I'm a pink and hairy fairy, but a queen's not a queen with no crown."
"...And wherever you are, and whatever you keep in YOUR pocket (taps nose)... have a lovely day, and Hooble-toodle-doo!"
(When Roma is planting seeds) "This is Roma Hoob, off to stick some more things in holes."
"Who could have put my nuts in a hole?"
"Maybe my nuts could have been part of a game, except they don't roll, like my balls."
"Icy balls! Well I never!"
(When they were listening to each other's heartbeats) "Wow! Great ba-booms, Tula!"
You people have GOT to watch it. Those are just a few of the little tidbits that the producers slip in. The Hoobs is sheer brilliance.

Oh yes, I've seen it many times, and am embarrased. The experts say that it is bad for kids because it uses words that the writers made up, and so, unlike other children's tv shows which help language, these just invent superlatives for the sake of it. But hey, I'm a sucker for kids shows.

Hoobybother. How can it be bad for Tiddlypeeps? I find it Hoobacious, but if they think the writer Peeps made a Hooby-boo-boo, then that's just Hooble-dooble-dooper, isn't it?
I'm off to have a Hoobjuice. Hoobletoodledoo.
Subject: Re: The Hoobs!
Hoobletoobledoo, friend.
Subject: Re: The Hoobs!
You two been drinking the hoobwater from the hoob-bong again ?
Subject: Re: The Hoobs!
No, we've just had a slice of Hooblygroobly Hoobnip tart.

They should clearly seperate kids cartoons from those made for adults. Cartoons should be too educate kids and entertain them in a healthy manner. I would guess that kids "get" more of the infrances that we think they do. Plus, who wants a kid with foul mouth and innapropriate behavior? Remember, kids learn just about everything from imitation.
Anyways, when is this show on? I think I might like it. ;)

Cartoon Network has a block of stuff late at night called "Adult Swim". It's a group of clearly-not-for-children stuff, including "Space Ghost, Coast-to-Coast" (and quite a few others).
On the East Coast USA, it doesn't start till 10pm, but on the West Coast it's early, around 7pm beginning time. And being on a Saturday, there's a big chance young kids might see some of these clearly inappropriate shows.
As with all tv, parents should be aware of what the kids are watching, but it isn't always so.
I've not heard of The Hoobs, but it sounds really cool! Is it from the U.K.? It might not have gotten here to the US yet. :-/

I want a job on this show....it's right up my alley!
Subject: Re: The Hoobs!
I think it's either British or Canadian- in Britain, you can see it at 6AM-7AM every weekday morning.
Subject: Re: The Hoobs!
It's another one of those "Mopatops Shop"-esque Jim Henson creations, and won an award at the British TV Awards.
Subject: Re: The Hoobs!
Did it really?!
Subject: Re: The Hoobs!
Well, I suppose anything that features a blue, furry alien called Hubba Hubba whom, in one episode, named a Tiddlypeep's rabbit "Hubba Hubba" as well, gets my vote.
Subject: Re: The Hoobs!
cant say ive heard of it!
Subject: Re: The Hoobs!
I also noted 'Whoever you are, and whoever you're flashing at today...'
The Hoobs rock! They're Hoobygroovy! Groove's the best, he looks like keith moon!
Subject: Re: The Hoobs!
Ohhh yeah, the buddy beacon one! Remember the Motorettes' song?
"You can flash at your friends as they go by, you can flash at your friends in the sky"?
I like Groove too, he's definitely the best! But I've analysed The Hoobs in some detail and here are my ideas on it:
1. Iver is 9ay.
2. He fancies Hubba Hubba.
3. Tula and Groove fancy each other.
4. Roma smokes 40 a minute (hence the voice!)
5. Hubba Hubba fancies Auntie Hattie Hoob
6. The secret ingredient in Hoobjuice and Hoobofizz is Viagra.
So there you go.

O.k. you people are for it now!
I've only watched this programme a couple of times (with my kids, honest!) but just reading this has reminded me of the singing engine bit. Now I've got that song going through my head!
The tiddlypeeps, the tiddlypeeps. We're off to see the tiddly peeps.
Just as long as I don't start singing it out loud at work. :-[

Come on everybody, you know the words! :D
We're off to see the Tiddlypeeps,
On the road we go,
We're off to see the Tiddlypeeps,
They're smart! They're fun! They know!
The Tiddlypeeps, the Tiddlypeeps
Help us find things out
They give us clues, they tell us news,
That's what they're all about,
We're off to see the Tiddlypeeps,
On the road we go,
We're off to see the Tiddlypeeps,
They're smart! They're fun! They know!
The Tiddlypeeps, the Tiddlypeeps
If we need to know,
Who, what, where, why, when and how,
We'll ask them, off we go!
We're off to see the Tiddlypeeps,
On the road we go,
We're off to see the Tiddlypeeps,
They're smart! They're fun! They know!
Ahhhh. I feel better for that. 8)

See I knew someone would know all the words
;D

It's a Hoobygroovy song. It gives me a break to put the kettle on, because advert breaks at that time in the morning are really short.
