Subject: iMesh, just try uninstalling it!
I read a review of iMesh, which made it sound like it had a lot of users, and since I'm looking for a lot of rare 80s tracks at the moment, I thought I would give it a try.
BIG MISTAKE!
it is full of several third party pieces of spyware and other junk.. my machine ground to a halt everytime it tried running some of it.. and suddenly pop-up free sites like google were running ads all over the place.. amiright's scumware detector named three programs I had.. and even after following the instructions, it took me well over an hour to restore my computer..
it's the absolute last time I try anything that claims to be "spyware free". Clearly if they need to state that, it's because they're being accused of harboring some other type of scummy software.

Thanks for the warning ChuckyG. Sorry you had to find out the hard way. :-/

Try Kaazalite...not regular kaaza. It does have many members and it does not have spyware. It also has several little gizmos that go with it. I have managed to find many 80s rareties. hope this helps! :)

I do use KaazaLite, but I find WinMX has harder to find stuff.. kaaza is only good for popular stuff.. I did find a clean version of iMesh to try eventually, but to be safe, I installed it on my older machine.. not worth the risk to try it on my primary machine

How can they claim it's spyware free, when it obviously isn't?

It may well be spyware free, but the install program obviously isn't ;-)

I guess it's just scumware, not spyware.. they don't track your movmements, they just display obnoxious popup ads on sites like mine which don't normally carry them

I'm a hero, my cousin had Gator, was completely clueless of his spyware-ness, so I deleted it for her! I feel so special! lol.
Other than the two or so pop-up ads I get when running iMesh (I uninstalled all those programs that it comes with), its not that bad.
