Subject: What came first the Chicken or the Egg?
This is an age old question, What came first the Chicken or the Egg I say that IT IS .......
ARE YOU READY FOR THIS? WELL ARE YA?
THE CHICKEN!!!!!! ;D
Subject: Re: What came first the Chicken or the Egg?
I'd have to say that the chicken came first...because the chicken has to make the egg...but then, who makes the chicken?
Subject: Re: What came first the Chicken or the Egg?

It all depends on how you phrase the question.
"Which came first, the chicken or the egg?" The answer is "the egg". Because dinosaurs, fish, and prehistoric non-chicken birds all were able to lay eggs before there were ever any such thing as a chicken.
Change the question slightly:
"Which came first, the chicken or the chicken egg." And your answer is even more obvious. The first chicken egg could only be laid by a chicken. Therefore, the chicken was first, because it hatched out of an egg laid by some other kind of bird.
This answer only works if you believe in the theory of evolution.

OK, to get truly pedantic here: surely it depends at precisely what point the mutation occurred to produce the first chicken? IOW, the first egg which would produce a chicken (i.e. contains the genome for "chicken" rather than "bird which is similar to a chicken") when it is laid *already* contains a chicken - would you describe this as a "chicken egg", as it *is* a chicken egg, even though it's been laid (layed?) by a non-chicken....
