Subject: all your concerts?

Written By: Zella on 11/24/02 at 01:59 p.m.

This might be a total dud, but I thought I'd try it...

I put it here since it obviously would cover more than one decade.

Can you list all the music/rock concerts you have ever attended?

I probably can, but will have to come back with my list later, after digging out my old ticket stubs. :)

Umm, I saw a symphony play Christmas music on a field trip once, about 4 years ago.  Other than that... ???

Well, the lists of concerts that I paid to go see (or would have paid to go see had I not won tickets) is very short:

The Monkees, 1969 (they were a trio then, Peter Tork having left the group)
Elvis Presley, 1975 (yes, he did play in Charleston, WV, in 1975 and 1976, and was to open the Huntington, WV, Civic Center (now Civic Arena) in 1977, but died before the proposed concert)
Bachman-Turner Overdrive, 1976 (I won tickets to see this off the radio; I loved BTO then)

I've seen a lot of free concerts, the most recent an oldies concert featuring the Coasters at the Charleston, WV, Sternwheel Regatta in 1986.

Mine is short. I saw The Talking Heads in high school, I've seen Elton John a bunch of times, RadioHead when they were a brand new band and James Taylor in college. Oh, does the DeFranco Family count when I was in elementary school? ;D Lots of bands at clubs while I was in high school too.

Black 47 sometime in the late 80's/early 90's
Salif Keita
Todd Rundgren
The Mighty Mighty Bosstones

Also, the Boston-based El Dopa.  I understand there is also a band in California (or there was) with the same name.

I think the best one I saw was Live at Summerfest last year in Wisconsin. Man was it good. I was five rows from the stage and def for a week. I would not trade it for the world. I also saw Sevendust and Nonpoint. They had good shows too, especially Nonpoint.

How embarrassing  :-[  As much as I am into music, live music has never been a fave of mine....

As such I have only ever been to two concerts

Phil Collins

and

Sting

Enjoyed them both immensely, even though Sting did do a bit too much of his jazzy stuff  :-/

When they were here they said that they were using footage from 2 different towns.  The only closest I came to seeing myself was when he was on the catwalk.  There was a sign in the audience, we were directly across from it.

Well now that may be what they were doing.  I don't know what they got from up here (it was Seattle I think--could've been Tacoma)..hey, one more thing we have in common, hunh?  ;D

A bit OT, but..we got more reaction from Skid Row though, in any case--my friend had made this big sign using their song titles..I think she was inviting Sebastian Bach to come and take a piece of her if I remember right--anyway, we were in the VERY front of the floor (seriously, there was maybe one or two people in front of us!) and we actually saw him put his hand above his eyes so he could read it and then he gave her a thumbs up or something like that..it was just really neat to feel so "close" to them.  They were really working hard to make a name for themselves, and I was surely impressed!  ;D
