Subject: how did you find the Message Board?
I don't think this topic has been done before...
How did you first run across the message board?
I was looking for lyrics quizzes and I stumbled onto this place, thought it looked like fun and decided to join up. It seems like such a loong long time ago, but it has only been 8 months. I ended up getting a lot more than I bargained for -- but all of it good! :D I now have several dear dear friends as a result of becoming part of the community here, and I could not imagine my life without them! :) :-*

;D
I submitted a scant number of parodies with my friend to Chuck's AmIRight site. I actually didn't start using the messageboard until I read Junior's voting thread (I still think Chris Pythila is awesome) and decided it might be a fun way to spend my time since I was jobless.
Now I do have a job, but this is still fun to go to and see what people think about certain things :)
Subject: Re: how did you find the Message Board?
Well, I first came to the net in 1999, looking for misheard lyrics. I noticed that kissthisguy.com had a message board, and I wondered if the misheard lyrics site (it was at worcestermass.com at the time) here had one (it was actually devoted to the 1980's at the time) and was hooked. I became hooked on the three other messageboards that came about from this site (1970's, 1990's and misheard lyrics) that when Chuck changed the boards last year, I tried to stay away because you had to register, but registered anyway, so here I am.
Subject: Re: how did you find the Message Board?
My sister was looking for something about the 80s, and stumbled onto worcestermass.com/80s (or something) and it was a misheard lyrics site. We thought it was funny, so we wrote it down, and in the summer of 2001 I found the link on an old scrap of paper in the computer drawer, and I typed it in, and got linked to amiright.com. I used the amIright messageboard for awhile, then kinda broke away from the site, and in January of 2002 I came back and got on the messageboard, which is the one we currently use. In April I had to re-register because of the crash though :(

Subject: Re: how did you find the Message Board?
I discovered this site a number of years ago while doing the initial research for The Totally Awesome 80s Pop Music Trivia Book. I was known as MDC way back in those days! The board has changed and improved a great deal over the years and I manage to keep returning here day after day! :)
Subject: Re: how did you find the Message Board?
I had just started running a webpage for our 10 yr class reunion, and I was looking for '80's midi files to put on the opening page. I came across this in my search, and didn't leave much again.. :)
I think I have always just been 'Marci', but I had one of Chucky's old email addys--'IWannaBeAGoonie@inthe80's.com' ;D
Subject: Re: how did you find the Message Board?
I had been talking with co-workers about 80's bands, and whether or not they were still together, and if not, "where are they now". I did an internet search for Jermaine Stewart, with no luck, then Kajagoogoo which brought me to Chucky's Inthe80's site sometime in late 2000/early2001. I saw the link for the messageboard, and would visit about once a week, mostly as a "lurker". I may have made one or two posts, but I'm not sure under what name.
Things got crazy in my personal life (divorce and custody stuff) and I didn't come around again 'til literally days after Chcuky re-vamped the messageboard software. I ended up registering soon after, and except for a couple of months this summer when I had no internet access, I've been here ever since.
Subject: Re: how did you find the Message Board?
I was looking for song meanings and lyrics. I ran across a thread about your worst '80's drinking experience-"when you really tossed your cookies". It was so funny, I've been here ever since.
Subject: Re: how did you find the Message Board?
I had to do a mock DJ project for my Radio class, and I chose to do a segment on 80s music. I used this site religiously to gather information about the 80s, and I periodically came back to visit - even after my project was completed (I got an A, by the way). During one of my visits I just "stumbled" upon the message board section, and the rest, as they say, is history. :)
Subject: Re: how did you find the Message Board?
I stumbled upon chucky's sight when i was looking for info on eighties artists. He used to have a Music database that was quite useful. I thought the other atricles were interesting as well. I posted on the old messageboard twice looking for the names songs, but no one posted an answer. Then last february I was bored, went to his sight again, and stumbled on the board.
Subject: Re: how did you find the Message Board?
I was browsing the web naked, like I usually am after running down the street that way, and was just looking for cool sites about the 80's. I found Chucky's site and liked it the best, so I bookmarked it, and then became a lurker on the boards, both old and this one, until I actually registered almost a year and began posting regularly. And since then, with the exception of a couple brief hiatuses, I've been dropping in here every damn day. You people are some of my best friends.
Now if you'll excuse me, there are some streets I haven't run naked down yet...
Subject: Re: how did you find the Message Board?
When I first got my computer I knew absolutely nothing. My friend (wipeoutgirl) came over one day to give me a few lessons. Well, with us both being stuck in the 80's as we are, it didn't take long to stumble across this site. I think that this was one of the first sites I came across and I just kept coming back (and lurking!) for a long, long, long time until I finally registered just a little while ago.
I LOVE THIS PLACE ;D
Subject: Re: how did you find the Message Board?
I was researching modern historical events and came across the 70-80-90 web pages and then followed the links to the messageboards. I had fun with just the decades parts and only recently started playing in the friendly penguin and games boards. One thing that struck me was that the people were very friendly and supportive, early in my web playing, '96, I found a posting board that was very active and fun for a very short time but full of bashing and the most vicously racist place I had ever experianced. I believe it was a Biancha site and closed down cause someone posted some child porn in it fathers day that year. Bizarre place that didn't have a focus and no mediation.
Subject: Re: how did you find the Message Board?
I was searching for MP3's and or lyrics and good ol Google led me here
And then I stayed ;D
And I'm more than happy that I did for a number of reasons :D And a number of friends :D It has given me a real insight into the minds and thinkings of people from other cultures, which aren't always represented in a balanced fashion in the media.... :(
So I'm glad I stumbled on the place, I'm really glad I stayed. I'm exceptionally happy that following the board crash, I kept perservering to see if the board had returned ;)
So remember :
Therefore, be at peace with the Board, whatever you conceive it to be.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful Board.
Be careful (of the auto-mod) ;D . Strive to be Chucky.
(Apologies to "Desiderata" :P)
Subject: Re: how did you find the Message Board?
I found this board by searching out 80s sites and it quickly became my fave of any that I'd seen. I posted a question on the messageboard asking the name of a particular song I was looking for and had an answer within 5 minutes! I've been hooked ever since!
I've only ever been know on the board as Jonman however some people have called me different things in PM's Heheeeee ;)
Subject: Re: how did you find the Message Board?
I came to the messageboards through amiright: I've been writing parodies for many a year now, and it was the first submit-and-vote-on site I'd come across. So I kind of stayed.

Subject: Re: how did you find the Message Board?
I found inthe80s through the misheard lyrics site, then later stumbed upon the old messageboard. At first I usually just answered questions I knew about music & other 80's trivia, but since the conversion to this board I've been a little more open about myself...I like it here. :)

You know, I've always felt left out on this one...no one has EVER wanted to run down my street naked.
Don't look at me! I'm...I'm...I'm hideous! :'(
That must be it. :'( :(
Subject: Re: how did you find the Message Board?
My other found it and joined, then he told me about it, figuring I would like it more than he does. And he was right. We both signed up in the same week and I think he has less than 10 posts.
Subject: Re: how did you find the Message Board?
I was attempting to identify songs on my mixed tapes of yore and found the old board. (BoyofCorn, you left with a piece of my heart.) I merely lurked until my sarcasm couldn't stand it no more, and when the board moved, I did too.

Over the past year, this board has become family to me.somewhat. :) I like the fact that I can feel the emotions in the words people type.happy or sad. :) -howard-
Subject: Re: how did you find the Message Board?
I first found this site in 1999 while looking for lyrics quizzes. I'm not too sure how I found the messageboard (only one at the time), but I read some of the posts and was quite intrigued. I decided to post a music question and 80smusicfreak, who has been MIA for a while now, was so kind to respond to me. :) I decided to stick around and see if I could answer anybody else's music questions. When Chucky changed to the new software, I signed up and became a member. I've been coming here consistently for 3 years now and have met some really cool people along the way! ;D ;)
Subject: Re: how did you find the Message Board?
I don't remember...http://www.clicksmilie.de/sammlung/fragend/fragend013.gif I was probably googling something like "Watergate John Dean prostitution" and this site made page one. All I know is I was looking for some obscure information from the 70s and google zeroed in on one of the postings on this site.
Subject: Re: how did you find the Message Board?
Followed the link from the Am I Right?site :)
(not back posting for good just yet, just a quick post from the library for now )
Subject: Re: how did you find the Message Board?
I stumbled on it by following a link in a search engine when I was looking for info on a band somewhere, late 98 or early 99 I think it was. I was using my real name back then and didn't visit the messageboard much at first, mostly I was adding film reviews and stuff to the 80s pages, but I've been coming back here now every few days for almost four years!
Subject: Re: how did you find the Message Board?
I was searching for something 80's. I stumbled on the in the 80's site and the old message board. I didn't post much on the old board, but the day after Chucky revamped the board I signed on and am here to stay. ;D
Subject: Re: how did you find the Message Board?
I was searching for misheard lyrics, and came across amIright.com . I was using amIright's original messageboard, and soon after started writing parodies. Soon after I wrote a few parodies, the inthe80s messageboard expanded, including a Song Lyrics, Misheard And Normal section - the main reason I joined. Of course, I extended to visiting the Quizzes, The 1990s, The 2000s, PPP (formerly Member's Only), and occasionally The 1980s and Penguin Board Games boards. Now, I do some of the inthe80s page (covers, top ten...), also part of the General Webpage category thing. ;D
Subject: Re: how did you find the Message Board?
Since this is quite fresh in my memory...I was searching for sites that would discuss what the meanings of certain songs meant...like "Blinded by the Light" by Manfred Mann. I just discovered this place tonight. ;D

My brother and I were arguing over the lyrics to "Twilight Zone" and I found amiright on a search engine. Being a regular on Court TVs messageboard I thought I would check this one out for a refreshing change from the seriousness of Court TV and was this ever a refreshing change. I got hooked right off the bat and the rest is history.
