Subject: Water
Does anyone out there still guzzle out of the tap water?
Our water here in St. Paul tastes terrible. I've got cast-iron taste buds, but a luke warm glass of St. Paul water tastes like someone put a straw in the fish tank. Cat doesn't seem to mind it, though.

Public water in Seattle doesn't taste bad it was warm coming out of my tap, I hate that :'(. Wife and I now lease a cooler and but the big jugs of it. It's $12 a month and well worth it. We even have the deluxe model which can send it out hot cause wife likes tea in the morning.
Please don't suggest that I can keep a pitcher in the fridge to chill either, that just didn't work.
Subject: Re: Water
Our water is virtually chlorine, since our treatment plant has been outdated by 2 centuries (you saw right). It's not as bad from the Reservior as it is near Fall Creek and the White River, where fish are known to have died from chemical spills. :-X

I'm not much of a water drinker. I know it's healthier and should drink at least 8 glasses a day, but I like juices and Coca-Cola too much more. I drink milk before even considering water.
I do end-up forcing myself to drink about 4 glasses a day. Better than none, I'm sure. ;)
I'm very fortunate because I have a well. My water is ice cold, clean and tastes great. :)

I LOVE the tap water here in Colorado. As for going to my brothers in Nebraska or my friend in Magna, Utah...well both places have water that is comparable to "Vitalis" :P
Subject: Re: Water
I don't drink the tap water over here anymore ever since it caused me to get sick. It also tastes nasty. We buy bottled water now.
Subject: Re: Water
I usually buy spring water in gallon jugs and drink that.
Subject: Re: Water
Ours tastes nasty, unless you put ice in it. Then it doesn't taste too bad. I drink most of my water at school, at the drinking fountains. When I drink it at home I put about 6-7 ice cubes in a glass, and get it cold.
Subject: Re: Water
our tap water is scary , but usually I try not to think about it and drink it anyway..
where I grew up , it was basically a neccessity to have a filter on the taps because the water was just so nasty. a chemical plant wasn't too far from there either!

I'm drinking a glass of 'scary water' right now. I have the flu and my throat is really sore :(

My husband buys bottled water, but I think drinking it is like drinking air. I stick with tap water; it's almost free and at least it has some sort of flavor... ::)

When I drink water, which isn't often, I drink tap water! ;)
Subject: Re: Water
I started drinking bottled water the day I drank some tap water and it tasted like crap! (I live across the river from a chemical plant, but the water does not come from that river, thank God!)
Subject: Re: Water
Always drink water after you run....run and drink water more ften....you Shant regret it ;)
Subject: Re: Water
In my town, it depends on how old the actual pipes are, whether or not the tap water is palatable.
My mother's neighborhood just had all their water pipes replaced because a major water main rusted out completely. Going in to fix it, the city found that most of the neighboring pipes were in similar condition. Now that she has brand new pipes carrying her water, I will drink her tap water. It is clean and tastes great.
I'm on the other end of the city, and not so lucky. The cat is willing to drink our tap water, but I'm not. I bought one of those filtered pitchers, and keep that for drinking, making coffee, Kool-Aid ect. The actual filter is about $8, but it lasts for a couple of months, and is cheaper in the long run than buying bottled water.

Ah, the Brita factor.
I drink a lot of liquid, but it's mainly diet Pepsi. I couldn't afford the dental bills if I drank regular pop, and I don't even like it that much anymore.
The few times I do drink tap water it has to be ice cold. For cooking I use bottled water.
Subject: Re: Water
I guess I'm just really lucky over here - tap water is fine - that doesn't mean I wouldn't crawl a mile over broken glass to have a drink of Coke first though..... ;)
Subject: Re: Water
I haven't tasted tap water in about a decade. :-X It would be too scary. We have a distiller (R.O.) that takes virtually everything out of the water....it tastes very pure. I have gotten so used to distilled water that even bottled water tastes like tap to me (Evian tastes the worse). I drink gallons and gallons of water a day. I just love it.
Subject: Re: Water
I try to drink water every day. I usually have a few glasses in the evening instead of soda. The Scottish water isn't as bad as the water where I came from.. It's ok if I let the water run for a minute.
Subject: Re: Water
I'll definitely be drinking more water now. :)
I guess I have taken it for granted.
Subject: Re: Water
I drink 'filtered' tap water. At work I drink water from the water cooler. All day. I probably get 8 glasses in a day at least. I need to stop drinking water right up to the time I go to bed... :-/
I probably have on average one soda per day, and it's usually a Pepsi. ;D
Subject: Re: Water
I drink tap all the time. Rarely - and only if it happens to be available on a trip or something, supplied by Mom - I'll drink bottled. There's nothing wrong w/our tap water. It's some of the best in the nation, so I've heard. Every so often there's too much chlorine in the water - usually happens w/ice! Mostly it is tasteless to me. But even out of town anywhere I'll drink tap.
I'm not a big water drinker, per se, but, depending on the meal description, I'll drink water w/dinner, etc. Such as, rich type food like marinas or barbeques - but not always. Wimpy mild ("comfort?") foods, I'll often drink the stronger drink likewise to counterbalance. Our tuna casseroles, etc, would get the iced tea.
Subject: Re: Water
The tap water where I live is gross. I have to keep a container of filtered water in the refrigerator at all times because I refuse to drink it any other way.
Subject: Re: Water
Actually the "8 glasses of water a day" rule is a bit of a myth. Everything you eat and drink has water in it anyway, so if you eat properly and regularly and drink just about anything, you're getting almost eight glasses just in your regular diet. A couple of cups of plain water on top of it is probably a good thing, though, but if you're one of these people who runs about saying "Oh, but you need eight glasses of water a day!" ...It really doesn't make that much difference. ;D
Subject: Re: Water
Quite true, my down under friend. 8 glasses of water just makes me pee a lot.
