Subject: Fav Female Rocker
This may have been done before, but not since I got here. Whose your favorite female "rock chick" of all time.I know its a tough one. ie Janis Joplin started it all. Like any red blooded american male in the 70s I fell in love and lust with Stevie Nicks.Pat Benatar has some hellacious chops.Debbie Harry,Cindi Lauper,Ann and Nancy Wilson way back when.Gwen Stefani,Allanis Morrisette, now etc.etc.etc.But my personal favorite is Chrissy Hynde. How about it?

I want a girl as cool as Kim Deal.
Subject: Re: Fav Female Rocker
Well I'm sure none of you know her....and very few Canadians know of her too but her name is Chrissy Steele and she rocked harder than anyone....but she's not singing anymore ::(
Now, I gotta go with Alanis...

Subject: Re: Fav Female Rocker
Well, Gwen Stefani has become more of a pop icon then a rock icon, so I say ALANIS.

Have to agree completely, since Marianne cannot properly be considered a rocker... :)

Debbie Harry, Joan Jett & Lita Ford were a force to be reckoned with in the 70's & 80's.
I'll stick to those as my all-time faves.
Subject: Re: Fav Female Rocker

Subject: Re: Fav Female Rocker
Right now it would have to be Angela Gossow of Arch Enemy. But Joan Jett is a goddess. ;D

Do Ann & Nancy Wilson count ??? If not I'll say Norah Jones

As far as I'm concerned, they definatly count.
Subject: Re: Fav Female Rocker
Great topic, although I am more partial to the male rockers, there are definitely some legendary female ones. ;)
Hmm, I am a big fan of Melanie Safka, especially Lay Down (Candles in the Rain), just a brilliant protest song.
Joan Baez, mainly for her Dylan covers more than anything. She does a great Blowin' in the Wind, although incomparable (sp?) to Dylan's, she still does a good job.
And finally, my favourite would definitely have to be Janis Joplin, she epitomised rock and roll - at least from a female perspective. Me and Bobby McGee is one of my all time favourite songs.
A little OT here, but regarding Me and Bobby McGee, has anyone heard Kris Kristofferson's version of it? I know he wrote it, but he just ain't Janis when it comes to singing it.

Pat Benatar & Stevie Nicks

I love Pat Benatar and Joan Jett. All that talent, beauty and attitude! When I was a kid my dream was to be Joan or Pat and marry Eddie Van Halen. ;D

Debbie Harry is my choice :]

I'd forgotten Warlock - I saw her supporting must have been DC or Dio a long time back. Though for some reason, I can't remember what the music was like at all...
I'd have to say Joan Jett, or possibly Suzy Quattro.
