... to watch any more movies that have Anthony Hopkins playing Hannibal Lector.

I am anxious to see this one. Red Dragon is a remake of the very first Hannibal movie, Manhunter, and I thought that movie was great back then. (I also loved the soundtrack) I can't wait to see it this weekend, the previews look awesome. Having Anthony Hopkins be a part of this movie just seems so fitting....He IS Hannibal.

Why not?

I didn't know the movie had already been made, under a different name...
I read the book, and thought it was better than 'Silence', so I am loking forward to it.
I thought Hannibal itself was a poor showing though....

I thought Manhunter and Slaughter were great. Even thought Hopkins was great in Slaughter. But it's become a cheap trick act on his part... last years Hannibal, IMHO, was a sad joke. Red Dragon, a remake of Manhunter, is getting panned. I think it a mis-use of an interesting character.
Subject: Re: I don't want...
I agree with you Steve, Hannibal was terrible. It looked like the writers were only interested in the gross factor....like so many horror movies these days. :(

AMEN!

I couldn't care less about "Hannibal" or "Red Dragon". Hopkins may have been a better Dr. Lector than Brian Cox, but Rape (I mean Ralph) Fiennes is no Dollarhyde.
Sorry if the term offends, but that's close to how he pronounces his name. :(

I ain't seen it yet, and I ain't gonna, but Roger Ebert gave Red Dragon 3-1/2 points ::)

Ebert will praise about anything nowadays. That's why I don't listen to critics anymore.

...And yet, even he wouldn't give more than two stars to Gladiator. I am absolutely stunned that that won best picture.
Subject: Re: I don't want...
Didn't someone somewhere call Gladiator Spartacus-Lite? If they didn't, they should have. I liked it until... there was a scene where what's-his-name is in the arena and, pulling out a pair of swords like they're numchuks, decapitates two opponents at the same time... that was soooo Mortal Combat...
Subject: Re: I don't want...
I've never seen Silence or Hannibal so I doubt I'll be hurrying to see this one! I have seen Manhunter on T.V I think.......
Subject: Re: I don't want...
Manhunter was pretty buff. Whoever it was playing Lector was a little less... stylized than Hopkins, but no less creepy.

Brian Cox (not the NFL player.)
