I placed a personal ad on Match.com the other week.  I've been wanting to say something so I could get some feedback from you guys.  But I was embarrassed :-[ I'm not out husband hunting!  Just trying to meet some people and get out a little bit.  Remember, I lost all of my/our friends in the divorce ::) >:(

I did notice your answer for 'religion', only my opinion but this sets alarm bells ringing, making me think of the worse possible scenario. Are you a member of some dubious cult?  ;D

Just a word of encouragement: I know quite a few people who have met on-line and have healthy relationships, some love relationships, some just friendships, so don't feel embarrassed by what you're doing.  I'm at work, so I can't look at your ad now, but I'm sure that, unless you put something odd down like "has strange pickle fetish" nobody will laugh (or if they know what's good for them, they'll keep it to themselves if they do want to laugh).

Good-luck, and be careful, there's some bad people out there as well as good!

Your ad looks very good and quite thorough (something I look for when scanning guy ads)!  Very nice pix, too.

Don't be embarrassed; I have an ad there too.  I've had ads on different sites.

You're using a great tool to find men to date.  Frankly, it's much better than "everyday life" happenstance meetings.  Generally, you cast your net over a huge audience, and yet you can then pick whether you really want to bother w/the people who contact you.  And if you keep it at e-mail, they won't have any other way to harass you.

I never understand the illogic of people who think it's somehow more dangerous than going out w/1 of the relatively few people you bump into on the street.  It's actually great because of what I said - you can screen what the person is like for a good while before agreeing to even talk on a phone much less meet them, and you can screen more easily as "anonymous" than face to face.  None of this met-in-bar-looks-gorgeous-get-phone-go-out-next day.  Knowing next to nothing about them.  That's safe?    ???    ::)

Great idea :D I can just add that meeting people on the internet has been quite an experience....I have met a few bad eggs but have also met some life long friends ;)

I once participated in a similiar sort of situation, except for it was over the telephone. You would record an ad, much like you placed. No pics to be seen but you could better get to know someone by phone conservations. I did it just for fun and for the sake of saying I did (my goal in life is to do everything at least once lol). I would have to say EVERY single guy I met was whacked. I ending up dating one, living together etc and he was CRAZY...literally. Now that may say something about meeting people in such a fashion or it might just say the majority of the single guys in Los Angeles have major issues   ::) LOL.

I had one date Friday night - really nice guy from Ft. Knox.  (Drill Sgt).  I had 3 dates on Saturday. Lunch, afternoon drink, and dinner.  Lunch guy was ok, snack guy was looking for s e x  ::).
Dinner guy really nice, but smoked, said he' try to quit though if we continued on (I said he'd HAVE to quit if we were ever going to go out again) - he called the next day and wants to go out again.  I wonder if this means he's quitting??
Drill Sgt. wants to go out again this week.

Your ad is great!  It's light-hearted and charming, with just the right amount of serious thrown in.  Actually, it's pretty much like glimpsing into you.

A little tip regarding meeting guys online:  watch out for shallow TeXans!  :P

I have friends who have had good luck meeting people on different sites, including match.com.  Some are in relationships now, some just dating and having fun.  (check out fletch699 - hubba hubba! :o)  The internet, just like any other venue, has both good and bad to offer.  I wish you the best at finding the good!  (And do be sure to let me know if any of these guys arrive on the date with a bag of Hershey's kisses instead of roses! ;))

Just a side note: if you lost any "friends" in the divorce, they weren't really friends.  Friends are the kind of people who, when someone on a message board seems down, will call long distance just to make sure everything is alright.  And those of us lucky enough to benefit from such people are forever grateful.  *{HUG}*

I can't figure the drill sgt. out.  Seems like he only calls when he can't find anything better to do - to heck with that!
The smoker has latched on and has become overbearing really.  I went out with him on Friday night.  He has cut WAAAY back on smoking (from 2 packs a day down to 3 cigarettes a day).  He's ALWAYS calling me - like 6 times a day. :-/
I'm meeting a guy for lunch on Thursday, another for lunch on Friday.  Nothing else planned...yet! ;D
