Actually, those are words from Toby Keith's song "Courtesy of the Red, White & Blue." I wanted to identify the source of the words, but ran out of space on the sig line…
Edited to add:
I changed my sig line back to the usual. I only used that sig line on 9/11 because that was my feelings about the unwarranted attack on America on 9-11-2001…

I am sorry you feel that way about Americans Thursday...but I know a few Canadians that feel different....
And I bet if the attacks happened to your country...you would feel different too...but you have to remember we are one...whether we have borders separating us or not

I can see that it's been forgotten what today is all about. Innocent families are gone forever because a bunch of psychos desperatley wanted attention. Haven't any of you stopped once to think that so many families had to spend christmas alone last year. So many kids had birthdays and their parents weren't there, i bet you don't think about that right? This isn't about whos from the USA and who's from planet whatever, or from the south of france, or from the north of canada.

All I have been able to think about today is the children. There was a story on the radio on my way to work about a little girl blowing out the candles on her cake. When her mom asked what she wished for she said "my daddy to come back from heaven and visit." I don't know if the story is true, but it gets to me. I can handle adults who lost partners without crying..but I think of a child who lost a parent and I break down. The picture of the little boy leaning over his mom's casket crying still makes me cry.
Everyone has the right to their own opinion and to state that...I think people should think of others feelings when they state them, though. I am not going to get into some of my feelings right now about how some opinions were stated because I don't want to start that discussion. I think that people need to think before they talk.
And, BTW, I am DAMN proud to be an American!

I am DAMN proud to be an American too!!
Subject: Re: Today...
Words can't begin to describe how proud I am to be an American...and how emotional I get when I see a flag (especially flying at half mast). I love our country, and although I don't necessarily agree with some of the politicians who our "running" our country, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. I love the men and women who have given their lives to protect our country...and the men and women who innocently lost their lives last September. I could go on forever.

I have always been proud to be an American, even before it was Trendy :(
and I will always be proud of my country.
even though our politicians treat us like crap, and would rather give themselves money than take care of real issues.
and our Elections are just for show and dont really reflect what the "Real People" want. (if u doubt this look at the last elections and the current elections in Florida)
and that Big Business has pretty much destroyed life for everyone below UpperClass.
I would still rather live in this country than any other country in the world.
and I have always said, and I will continue to say it.
If you dont like it here, the exits are North and South.
and just for the record THIS PROUD AMERICAN is a single father raising his two young daughters, on P/T pay, barely surviving and still walking with his head up high with pride.

I, as well, am damn proud to be an American!!! There is no better country as far as I'm concerned.
For those stating they aren't proud to be an American, what's there NOT to be proud about?? Where would you rather live? I'm sure they'd be happy to have you. ;)
I'll bite my tongue and say no more...

For someone who isn't proud to be American, you sure are quick to bring up "I have the freedom to..."
Make no mistake, I have no comment about whether or not you are proud to be American. And, as an American (proud or not), you DO in fact have the right to freedom of speech. But this is a moderated board, and lucky for me, *I* have the right to moderate it if I feel it's necessary. So I remind you, PLAY NICE, "CHILDREN".
On a 9/11 note, I am fortunate enough to have full citizenship in both the United States and Canada. Talk about the best of both worlds. And I'm proud to be Americanadian.

I didn't mean to confuse you, there. I quoted your post because you mentioned the families and I totally agree with you. I was talking about people who state their opinion and then feel the need to grind it in your face as if to cause a fight. I totally agree with the psycho post. ;)
Subject: Re: Today...
I've always thought pride for ones nationality a strange thing: I have a certain pride in the work that I do, and the things I have achieved; lately I have taken pride in the things my children have achieved, but I have never been proud to be English or British - it's an accident of birth that meant I'm here rather than America, Australia or Albania, so why should that make me proud?
It makes me happy when the England team (in whatever sport) does well, but I feel no pride in their achievements: how can I, when I have contributed nothing to their success? Similarly, I am glad of the freedoms I enjoy here, but since I did nothing towards gaining those rights, wherefore should I be proud to have those rights?
I don't mean to be derogatory to all you proud Americans, but have you ever really paused for thought about what it is you are proud of?

I'll admit that the British government is a little more left leaning than I would like, but I wouldn't be quite so critical of them!
(Now folks that was sarcasm!!)
