My abs, arms, anything on my body is sore from weight lifting. How many of you people weight lift? or took weight lifting back in highschool? some people at my school think that girls shouldn'y be able to take weight lifting what do you think?
Subject: Re: Ow
Ouch is a common word for me. I work out three times a week with a personal trainer. It's a pain (literally sometimes) and time consuming but it makes me feel so much better. And check out these "guns". ;D

Sorry to hear about that, Alicia. Me personally, I don't think there's any problem with females doing weightlifting in order to pursue their own interest, but I don't know if there would be any problem medically with it. If not, all power to those that pursue it.
Subject: Re: Ow
I used to lift weights and work out through high school and collage but I haven't for years... no time with a wife and two kids and work ::)
And I think it perfectlly OK for the ladies to lift weight, if that's what they want to do more power to them.

If you can put up with the god awful boredom of being a gym rat, more power to you. Male or female...
Just a couple of heads up, though... don't use more weight than you can comfortably lift at least ten times; put pins on the ends of the bars if you're using free weights- a falling five pound weight is capable of breaking even Arnie's toe (I've seen it happen twice); it's okay if your meat aches, but not the joints - if your elbows, wrists, knees, et cetera are aching, decrease the weight; fluid movement - don't jerk a heavy weight cause you feel like a wimp using a lighter weight - you're just going to hurt yourself.
And NO tattoos. You'll just regret them later.

I agree wholeheartedly with everything except the tattoos part...

I used to weightlift.I don't do as much as I used to do.I just got fat and lazy. ;D -howard-
Subject: Re: Ow
I love to weightlift. I use very small weights, though, because I don't want to bulk up - I just want to tone up. Couple weightlifting w/ aerobics, and it's "firm city."

A pint in each hand is a good bicep curl, isn't it? ;D

Absolutely! The trick is not spilling any beer. ;D
Subject: Re: Ow
you go, girl!! girls can do anything they want...and people who say they can't or shouldn't are just afraid of someone else showing them up and really need to chill.
Subject: Re: Ow
Ok, Alicia, it has been a week. Is it getting any easier for you? I only ask because it usually takes me a week to get used to a new exercise routine.
Subject: Re: Ow
i've been going to the gym for about a couple years off and on every 3 days or so... i remember my first couple times going though i felt really stiff and sore after the workout.. it gets a lot easier after a week or so when you get used to it..
