Subject: New Snacks
Are they're any new junk food stuff in you neck o' the woods? Lay's is experimenting with two flavors they call the "America's Tastes". The Memphis barbeque is all right, but I'm afraid to try California Cool Dill since I'm not a big dill fan. I wonder if they'll have an Indiana Pork Tenderloin chip?

They have these new Frito-Lay organic all-natural snacks. White Cheddar Cheetos, Blue Corn Tostitos, etc.

We are so far down in the boondocks we never get anything til it has made it big up north...the things that the two of you just spoke about are things I have not even heard of yet!!! ::)

We've had blue corn tortilla chips for years now. There are at least six different brands to choose from. They have less salt than the regular tortilla chips, but otherwise taste the same.
The newest thing around here are the "exotic" vegetable chips. They are being marketed as an organic alternative and go by the name of "Terra Chips". The chips are made of taro roots, sweet potato/yam, parsnip, and a couple of other things. They are very, very good, and I am totally addicted.
Other things that are new are blue potato chips, and sweet potato chips. The sweet potato chips are good, and very popular in my neck of the woods. The blue chips are more of a curiosity item. They are made from a naturally bluish-purple variety of the common potato, and taste exactly the same as regular potatoes (at least the chips do).

Oh, yeah, and Torengos (Triangular Tortilla Chips).
Someday, we'll be submitting these to the "Food" section of www.inthe2000s.com (If Chuck starts it!) ;)

Are thees chips healthier for you than normal potato chips? It's a good Idea to use sweet potato/yam, but If they are made using white flower, then It's useless from a health standpoint.

At the moment, over here in England, they have released limited edition Coronation chicken flavour crisps - for the 50th anniversary of QEII's coronation. Whether they'll stick around, I don't know.

Remember olean? It was supposed to be healthier too but all it did was produce loose stools (not the company, but the consumers. ;D) I guess there are still olean based foods out there, but if I ever find out I won't be eating it.

THe only new junk food I've heard of recently is that chips ahoy with creme in the middle, while I don't approve of eating them, that comercial is real catchy. they have a cookie on the bus and it is singing:
"Squeezed in the middle"

I have heard of them, but I never ate them, I've only been Into health for about six months.

Yep, still out there are Frito-Lay's "Wow!" line and fat-free Pringles. I won't touch them with a ten-foot pole.

there isn't much new around my area...we've had blue tortilla chips and terra chips forever, you just gotta know where to find them. not that i pay much attention anyway...i'd rather have a nice crunchy potato than a greasy chip. i'm more of a fruit and veggie snacker than a junkfood snacker.

Quoting directly from the bag:
"Terra Chips have 30% less fat than the leading brands of potato chips, and they are low in sodium. Terra Chips contain 7g of fat per serving versus 10g in the leading brands of potato chips."
There are (about) 8 servings per 7 1/2 oz. bag.
They also have a website: www.terrachips.com
So, I guess the short answer would be they are a little healthier than other chips, but are still "junk food". {I just like the taste}
