Subject: If you could......
If you could be someone for ONE day..... WHO would you be and WHY?
Mine is : Marilyn Monroe of course. I would like to see what it would be like to be in her shoes for one day.

Hmmmmmmm. I would be me, but at 16 again 8)
If I had to pick a person other than me, Angelina Jolie.
Subject: Re: If you could......
If she was real, then Xena: Warrior Princess. To stop the bad guys and help the helpless.
If it must be a real person I'd pick Queen Hatshepsut of ancient Egypt. She was the first Queen to actually "rule" a country, not just sit back and look pretty while the vizier ruled in her name. She did a lot of good for her people. Increasing trade, creating jobs and ending war (well, for a little while anyway). I'd want to see if making the world a better place was really as difficult as some people make it out to be.

My first idea was Seigfreid or Roy so I could cuddle the kitties, but then I thought, do I really want that much of an education?
So now I think David Copperfield, so I show up at one of his acts and sit in the audience loudly explaining the whole effect.
David Copperfield. That's right, right? The magician? I'm getting him confused with the book that Oliver! is based on. I suppose I could go look one of them up...

Yes, but with all due respect to Queen Shep, she couldn't have done it without oversized headgear and a fake beard (it's true, I've read it). She's truly a pioneer, but she had to fit in with the rest by sporting the beard and wearing large headgear. I'm all for equality, but Queen Shep hadn't managed it truly.
Peace out

No, she hadn't. But she did manage more than most. And as far as the traditonally "male" clothing, what about jeans? Or any other types of trousers?
100 years ago those were all considered "men's clothes", too.

Hmmm....did the disguise really fool anybody? After all, we are having this discussion 3000 years later. We know she was a she, I'm betting Egypt back then did, too! ;)

I'm thinking the extra-large crown and fake beard were more symbols of office than disguises, anyway. All the kings wore them, and nobody else but the king was allowed to.
I don't think she was going for gender equality either. From what I've read, women in ancient Egypt had more rights and equality than women in any other time or place in history (until very recently).
I think it was more of a case of "OK, you dimbulbs have messed up the country enough. I'm taking over, and I'm gonna do things RIGHT for a change".
Don't we all feel like that sometimes, even a little?

I would be Cleopatra, because she was fascinating.

Wait a min...I thought Oliver! was based on Charles Dickens's Oliver Twist.
Back on topic.
I'd be Jesse Helms and hang myself for the Helms-Burton Act.
Tarzan Boy

Now TB, you can't do that! Then you'd have me wanting to be Tom Daschel and bungee jump with a cord that was this much too long! ;D

I would be a rich person who, in a moment of generousness, decided to give 1 million dollars to Dagwood. ;D
