Subject: New Pop
There have been some new pops coming out lately, including:
Vanilla Coke
Sierra Mist
Mr. Green
Blue Mountain Dew (Tastes like berries, anyone remember what it's called?? I haven't tried it)
Did I miss any?
What's everyone think of each of these, and did you like them? It's sad that Sierra Mist is replacing Slice, one of my favorite pops. It's just Pepsi's version of Sprite and 7-Up, I guess. I haven't tried Sobe's Mr. Green yet, or the Blue Mountain Dew, which my friend tried. I also like Vanilla Coke. What do you think of these?
Subject: Re: New Pop
You forgot Mountain Dew: Code Red/Mellow Yellow Cherry...although it kinda tastes like a Cherry Soda drink that we used to have at the local athletic association ballpark. ::)
Subject: Re: New Pop
And Mellow Yellow Green. Nasty stuff.
Subject: Re: New Pop
I like mountain dew code red, I wish they made it in diet because now I cant drink it. I haven't tried vanilla coke yet, but I know I'll like it.
Subject: Re: New Pop
They do make Diet Code Red now. Came out in May, I think.
Subject: Re: New Pop
Fanta is making a comeback, but the recipe is different. In former years, the taste used to be stronger and probably had more sodium bicarbonate in it and a stronger artificial flavour. Now it's just a bland twin of Nehi soda. For a moment I thought I would go back to drinking soda...

I haven't tried the "new" fanta, but I had fanta when I went to europe (still pretty popular over there). The taste is kind of hard to explain, Its kind of like orange soda (or whatever flavor) with bite. It was really good though, I'll be pretty upset if they changed it.
Subject: Re: New Pop
We don't sell any of these here that I know of. I know we have Mountain Dew Code Red. Maybe it's Code Blue.
BTW, whatever happen to Storm and Surge?

Well, I heard there was going to be blue Pepsi or something this summer, then my friend later told me today that it's a Blue Mountain Dew SLUSHIE at 7-Eleven. It's called Blue Shock Mountain Dew. But I think there still might be another kind of blue Pepsi product, as far as I've heard. I could be totally wrong.
Subject: Re: New Pop
I think Surge is still around. Sierra Mist also replaced Storm AND Slice. >:( www.sierramist.com, click on "FAQs."

The Vanilla Coke is totally addictive!! Best when ice cold, though...don't let it stand around waiting. LOL And if you're cutting back on fattening foods (like me), try to limit yourself!! It CAN and WILL go straight to your butts!! :-/ lol
Moutain Dew is too sweet to me, so I've never tried Code Red.
Haven't heard of the blue stuff, but I'm sure it exists. Anything for a buck, yes?

Funny how a food that has no fat will do that to ya. Personally I don't even look at the grams of fat on the back of packages, Its all callorie counting for me.

Last month, I mentioned on another thread that Pepsi was coming out w/ a "blue" cola sometime this Summer, after seeing it announced on NBC's "Today" show. (They were doing a segment on how the "cola wars" are heating up again, and that morning they were introducing the world to Vanilla Coke.) Perhaps it was my post you were thinking of...
Mountain Dew is a Pepsi product, so that new "Blue Shock Mountain Dew" may or may not be what they were referring to. But either way, I haven't seen it in my area yet. When I made my last post on the subject a few weeks ago, I checked Pepsi's official web site at www.pepsi.com , but strangely, found nothing listed on the topic. Just checked again, and still nothing - didn't even see anything about "Blue Shock Mountain Dew", and you say it's already out! (And I believe you.) So why there's no news about it on their web site is beyond me! Go figure... :-(
As for Vanilla Coke, I like it, and have been drinking it quite a bit over the last few weeks. It's been available nationally for over a month now...
Subject: Re: New Pop
I heard about that. The truth? I hope this doesn't turn too ugly. All this over some blue drink? As good, or bad as it tastes (I still don't know, since I don't know whether it has been released), I hope this cola war doesn't turn too grotesque.

I just have a problem with drinking anything blue....what is your mouth gonna look like....no offense darla...but a blue mouth to me reminds me of a dirty joke I heard a long time ago about a smurf and a persons mouth being blue...think about it...and you can figure it out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :o

::) ::) ::)
As I stated in a previous thread, people will buy it. Mainly because of the famous names attatched to them. Some people just can't avoid the famous and trusted names no matter what the deal is. Limited edition? No, I think these, despite the possible verdicts, may stay around for a while yet.

Subject: Re: New Pop
I am probably in the minority here, but I tried the Vanilla Coke, and did not like it at all. My daughter even didn't like it, and she usually likes all pop. :-/
Subject: Re: New Pop
I have also checked www.pepsi.com, and the newest pop they have there is Sierra Mist. I would at least think they have their "Blue product" (whatever it is) because www.coke.com has Vanilla Coke up there. :-/
Subject: Re: New Pop
I saw the Vanilla Coke at Target yesterday. Haven't seen the Blue Dew yet.
Last week I did see a citrus JOLT! soda at the convenience store...
Subject: Re: New Pop
I actually tried Vanilla Coke, the other day.Man,That was delicious. :D -howard-
Subject: Re: New Pop
Dagwood, you are not alone, I don't care for the vanilla Coke either.
I do like the lemon flavored colas that came out a few months ago, but I've never cared much for Mountain Dew, so I haven't tried the Code Red version yet.
Usually, when a new sodapop flavor comes out, I will try it.
Right now, I've been buying coconut or pineapple sodapop from the Spanish-foods aisle in my supermarket. I'm not familiar with the brand name, so I don't know if they are a major brand or a generic. All I know is that the flavors are great.
Subject: Re: New Pop
I'm trying to stick to seltzers, since they generally have no calories and nowhere near as many chemicals as diet colas...
however, I've given the vanilla coke a try... first impression was that it wasn't all that strong, the second time I really noticed it.. not sure if I like it or not.. I'm still a big cherry coke fan myself, when I drink coke..
and of course nothing beats Moxie or Polar Birch Beer...
Subject: Re: New Pop
I just got back from the pool, and I tried some of that Mr. Green stuff.. it's basically green watered-down Dr Pepper..
Funny, first there was Dr Pepper. Then Mr. Pibb. Then Mr. Green. They all TASTE like Dr Pepper. (When Mr. Pibb and Mr. Green copied Dr Pepper's pop, they didn't catch that Dr Pepper does not have a period at the end of "Dr," but Mr. Pibb and Mr. Green do on "Mr.")
Subject: Re: New Pop
if only this stuff was out in Oz!! Damn!!
We got Pepsi Twists the other day..its got lemon in it :-D
Subject: Re: New Pop
Thought I'd bring this back to ask if anyone has had Dr Pepper Red Fusion. I bought it last night, and I think it's disgusting!! It tastes like drinking cherry cough medicine, only not as thick!! :-X
Subject: Re: New Pop
I tried Vanilla Coke a couple of weeks ago. It was okay, but not as great as I thought it would be.

Subject: Re: New Pop
when i saw the topic "new pop" on the main message board, i thought it meant that you were a new dad! :D that you and your wife just had a kid or something.
but now that i've gotten it straightened out, i am definitely looking forward to trying vanilla coke. haven't yet; it sounds good. i think the commercials are pretty funny. i remember trying mountain dew red. i thought it was nasty.
anyway. see you all around. :)
Subject: Re: New Pop
blue Mountain Dew slurpees are sooooooooooooo good.
I like Sierra Mist
the Vanilla Coke is not all that great.
code red mountain is nasty.
Subject: Re: New Pop
Code Red is actually the only kind of Mt. Dew I'll drink. :P
Subject: Re: New Pop
So far we don't have any of these here. The only Fanta we have is orange, grape and strawberry. :(
That just tells you of the conservative mindset of Indiana vendors.
Has anyone heard about blueberry Pepsi?

I've heard of it, I haven't seen it yet though. It annoys me Pepsi doesn't even put any info about it on their website. >:(
Subject: Re: New Pop
I tried Vanilla Coke and it's not that bad. But it's not something I'd buy every day. I wanted to try out that Dr. Pepper Red Fusion but it only came in a 2-liter bottle. But if lebeiw15 says that it tastes like cough syrup, then I'll have to investigate that…
Subject: Re: New Pop
Actually my favorite kind of pop is Faygo Redpop (it's a Detroit thing ;)). And some cheddar cheese preztal combos to go along with that ;D ;D ;D

Same here and they changed the recipe to give a real bland taste :-/ :( I had a sip of all the above mentioned and they taste like the storebrand or that Nehi soda (blech!).

Okay, I'm very surprised that no one else here has mentioned this yet (is Indy_Gent a true Pepsi fan? ;) ), but the new blue Pepsi that I was referring to in the above post is now in stores! In fact, it's been out nationally for just over three weeks now, and I've been drinking it myself for the last two. And no, it wasn't "Blue Shock Mountain Dew" - it's called (what else?) "Pepsi Blue"! :-) So far, I've only seen it in 20-oz. and 1-liter bottles. Personally, I think the stuff tastes okay, but I don't like it as much as Vanilla Coke. But Pepsi Blue sure looks different, lol. And yes, there's finally info about this new product on Pepsi's official web site, at www.pepsi.com . However, if you want to learn a lot more about PB, it's better to check this link: www.spudart.org/pepsiblue . So who else has tried it? Surely I'm not the only one here who's seen it? :-)

It first showed up in the stores here about two weeks ago.

And yes, 80s MT, I DID mention a blueberry Pepsi earlier on this thread. ;)

I bought a few bottles of it and then bought a 12-pack of it. The taste is indescribable (IMHO) but it sure isn't Dr. Pepper!
