Subject: Debate topic #3: is Bush doing a good Job?
Since the last debate topic got beat to death, I decided to start a new topic. So how does everyone think Bush is doing as president? Does anyone think he knew about the attacks before they hapened? Anyone still think he is linked to Enron?

Well, I don't know if we can handle another debate topic - See what happened to the last one. Nothing personal, of course. At the first sign of trouble - it's gone.

I don't think people are as sensitive about the pressidents activities as they are about immigration. I was going to do a different topic for this thread, but changed it to Bush because of the last debate.

Well, the first real topic, Smoking, was handled differently by the players really involved. It never got personal. It reached 5 pages in one evening without a single barb thrown. I couldn't see that occuring with the Illegal immigrants thread, so I avoided it. And I see that that one has deteriorated. Looking back on the post regarding Clinton's presidency, I wonder about this one. On the other hand, though, Clinton did give us so much more ammo to work with... ;D
I'll personally refrain from this one as well, at least until I see how it shapes up.

I agree as long as we can all be civil, there is no real reason to can the string (yet)
So far I think Bush is doing things according to his agenda (no real difference than other prez have done in the past, Repub. or Dem.) with the biggest thing weighing in is the war on terrorism. I dont think that with the exception of WW2, Korea or the Vietnam war has America been put through such a change in the way we do many things, from entering an airline, patrolling the border, to handleing letters that may contain a deadly powder.. In truth we may have been hit harder on the homefront than all 3 wars combined! These next few years are a time for changes that were needed years ago but we as a nation failed to heed them. So now they have to be implemented with speed which will cause many to complain and moan. Mistakes will be made. He will have to deal with that as a prez, and may go down as the most hated prez in the history of the USA, but changes are needed and who will take the blame? Him and his administration..

I think He's doing a great job with the war. I also think he is handling Isreal/Pallestien as bust he can. I also think that its unfair to try to get him wraped up in a scandle. How many scandles is it going to take before he's Name will be Clear? There's no proof linking him to Enron (although theres proof linking a former pres). After Enron had died down Cynthia Mckenny claimed bush let the 9/11 attacks happen so his father could make More money. The French claim the pentagon wasn't attacked. Now there having a senate investigation into what he new before 9/11? It seems to me that they think if they get bush involved in a scandle then it will make us see a former president in a new light.
On the other hand, he has done some things I dont agree with. the main thing is he didn't vedo campaign finance reform. Also, Airport security could be handled better.
If Andrew Johnson is a 1 and Franklin D. Roosevelt is a 10 then I give him a 7.5/10

I think he is doing a great job. He handled 9/11 great. I may be biased, though. I supported him throughout the election and all.
As for knowing about the attacks...I don't think so. He may have heard of terrorists threats that may or may not happen maybe somewhere (the same as we are hearing now) but, in my opinion, if he knew exactly what was going to happen, he would have done something to try to stop it. (I would say this about any president Republican or Democrat. I would hate to think that any president would ignore...they are human too)
